i hope you didn't take my comments about popular music and generational appreciation/divides as any sort of criticism aimed at you. Your post got me, and then my wife and me thinking about who likes what pop music. Patty remembered, back in the day, when the Beatles were still together and releasing LPs. She played one of their ballads (iirc "for no one" but not sure) for her mom who mostly liked opera and show tunes. Jane's reaction was ..."kind of sappy, isn't it?" I'm sure Patty then said "Mother!" with an exasperated tone of voice.
A good question and got me started thinking again about who likes what music and why. You might enjoy a book called "this is your brain on music" by Canadian neuro-biologist and former rock musician and producer Daniel Levitin. He has a facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/daniel.levitin?r... and an interesting site at McGill University in Toronto http://ego.psych.mcgill.ca/levitin.html/

And sometimes when I get really curious about what's gonna happen I skip to the ending.
