About me'ello, and welcome. ^-^ I was never much good at introductions, but I think that goes for many others too.
I love both reading and writing, both of which are activities I'm reasonably good at. I have a habit of attaching textures to sounds and a bias against first person. (That doesn't stop me from enjoying first person narratives, but it does make it a lot more difficult.)
Uhm... I also enjoy singing, albeit off-key, and I have problems watching movies because my attention span wanders. I'm a cat-person and my home houses four lovely cats (and a dog).
Lastly, drop a note if you've any other questions. I don't bite, I promise. ^-^ (Also, if I don't know you and you could tell me why you're friending me, I would really appreciate it. Years of serial adders have made me a little paranoid in that respect.)
About my library*gestures at the collections* Need I say more about the content?
Most of the books I own are in English and, despite being Dutch, the only books in that language that I own are those with youth sentiment. Dutch is... almost physically painful for me to read nowadays, so I try not to.
Feel free to browse around or leave recommendations! (Also, if you disagree with a genre label or want to give me a shove in the right direction for the books I can't/couldn't place, please drop me a note! I'm still quite new to this whole labelling thing and have lots to learn!)

I'm glad you liked The Gathering! At least Anneke's voice :D. They do use a lot of different instruments, and a lot of their music is considered experimental. Some people like them..some don't. Their sound is different. They really vary from album to album though. In the past they were far more hard rock/metal oriented, atleast musically...but they've changed a lot over the years. The third is probably my favorite out of the handful too :)..good song.
Anywhoo..hope all is well. have you read [The King of Elfland's Daughter] ? Was just curious. So far so good..but still not up to the greatness of Lud-In-The-Mist, in my opinion (haha..that will always be a comparison now..I just love that book). I am enjoying it though..almost done. Ack..it takes me forever with my schedule :( haha.
Talk to you later!

Here's a list of his books in case you turn out like me and decide you must read them all. LOL

Whew, I can see that I have gotten out of the habit of writing. I am going to have to post some reviews just so I can remind myself how.

Thanks for the recommendations! Tigana does indeed look interesting. Oh..so the group reads you're doing are for classes? Gotcha. At the moment I'm not doing any classes of any sort..but I'm hoping to get back to college by next quarter. I was going to a little community college..working towards a degree in Webdesign/E-Commerce. However..since it's sooo ungodly expensive I had to take a break. None the less..I went in for a degree with computers and found myself far more interested in the English part of it than the computer part of it. Hah. Go figure..though, I am good with computers.
As for The Gathering, they are an experimental/rock band that have been around for quite a long time. Unfortunately their singer (who has been their vocalist for years), Anneke left the band a few years ago..and they just aren't the same anymore :(. If you have flash..here are a few of my favorite songs by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw_0GmTAc... -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoR_i7XAh... and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQDfpAxac...
Not sure if it's your type of music, but I do love them :D. Anyhow, talk to you later! -Joe

Ah yeah, group reads! "A Song for Arbonne". Librarything SAYS I'd love that book, though sometimes it lies..heh. It looks interesting..but at the same time I know little about it. I myself have never done any group reads..I should do that sometime. I found a fantasy book club on goodreads.com that suggests a few books to read each month..and post discussions on them, etc..though I've not found any like that here. I've joined both sites, but I find myself at LT about 98% of the time. I just like it better. Anyway..I should try to find a book club of sorts. Sounds kinda cool.
So..you're dutch? That's cool :). I know you said where you live you get cold winters. We have rather mild weather considering other areas..but we do get snow! By the way..have you ever heard of the band "The Gathering". They're a dutch band..and at one time I guess were quite big in The Netherlands. Not so big here..but one of my favorites none the less.
Thanks for the recommendation btw. I actually have Mervyn Peake's trilogy waiting for me..thanks to the many recommendations I've got on that one. I've had several people tell me to check it out..so I bought the entire trilogy in one from Amazon. It looks really good..and it's near the top of my TBR list. :D. I'm loving novels like that. Dunsany, I can already tell, will be another author I'll really enjoy. I've been thinking lately..of how useful librarything is. Without it..I'm not sure I'd ever have read some of these great books..like Lud-in-the-Mist, which is as you know, one of my favorites now. So..I guess..

I was going to send ya a comment earlier, always interested to see what you're up to in the fantasy world. You give good recommendations when you have em' :D.
I started Shadowmarch by Tad Williams about 2 weeks ago..and I couldn't for the life of me get into it. I'm not sure why..it was just so..lifeless. Atleast, as far as I went and on my first impression. I'm rather disappointed though...I was looking forward to reading that one for a long time. It just seemed like a bad clone of "A Song of Fire and Ice" by GRRM or something though. Meh..oh well..I'll probably try again later.
But it's funny you recommend Dunsany After giving up on Shadowmarch, I started King of Elfland's Daughter by Lord Dunsany a few nights ago, just before your comment. I'm already really liking it :D. Though..like most 'fantasy' novels of its time..before fantasy was even an established genre..it's very wordy and incredibly descriptive. Like..pages of description..to describe..a falling leaf. Haha. I myself love it..BUT.. it's the type of book you really have to read slowly..and let it all sink in..rather than race through it. Atleast for me.
Anywho..I was recently on 'vacation' to California to meet some long lost relatives. Eh..it was tiring..and 100 degree weather isn't my thing..but it was nice meeting them, lol. Where are you from? I'm from western washington..and I'm so use to our cool weather it isn't funny. 100 was...terrible.
..about that book you were telling me about..that gave you nightmares. What was that about? What's it called? LOL. I have to say..there's a side of me that LOVES creepy books/movies/etc. I use to play the PS2 game Silent Hill 2..back in like middle school..and scare the heck out of myself. Very creepy game, yet I loved it...even if it made me incredibly paranoid of the dark. Fun..fun..lol. Fortunately though, I don't have nightmares often. I think I sleep too lightly to really dream much..or atleast that I remember.
So yeah..nice talking to you.looking forward to your reply :D
