GroupsPoetry Fool, Poetry Readers, What did YOU buy today?

About meI work in book publishing & distribution.

About my libraryIt'll take me some time to get it loaded on LT. Book collecting habits are mostly poetry and poetry theory & criticism, plus hardback first editions of novels by authors I like (and gleaned from charity shops - although I shouldn't say that too loudly because of the debate going on about authors not receiving royalties on second hand purchases!). I was shocked recently to realise how many business books I own - but that probably says more about too many hours spent in railway stations en route to various appointments than it does about my taste in books. And the fact that WHS travel stocks a good range of business books, but usually no poetry at all - which says sad things about the market for poetry in the UK (or WHS Travel's buying policies) - but I suspect the former not the latter.
My 14 year old daughter is also a print junkie so I've recently had to build new shelves in the hall to accommodate her expanding collection.

Hi Sheila, Took your advice and joined up. It will take me a while to find my way round this and add my favourite books. This is a full time job! I should be writing. Pauline.
Hi Sheila,

Thanks for dropping in and for your information on Bhat's work.

We Need to Talk About Kevin: I was engrossed from the beginning. However, if you followed the radio4 play, then perhaps there is no need to read the book as it remained very true to the story.
I prefer short stories as I often feel let down by novel endings (nothing can beat The Dead). Kevin kept me gripped right to the end!

Colm Tiobin was a gift from an artist cousin as he knew it would tick all the boxes for me. Short stories about family life, drink and sorrow-all life is there. I would buy it.

Kindest Regards,
Marie
Love this Poem SheilaWB!
I shall look for this poet's work as I think it sums up Rego's painting/style perfectly. Isn't this is a great site for introducing people to new work.
Thanks again,
Maloytsang
