About meI am really A. Bowdoin Van Riper . . . a historian who teaches and writes about the history of science and technology. My primary LT account, which reflects the books I actually own is here.

About my libraryThis LT account is my way of keeping track of all those books that I don't own and haven't read, but think might be worth tracking down . . . to read for fun, to recommend to colleagues, to use in a present or future article/book project, to use as background or assigned reading for a course, to lobby my university library to buy, etc.

The titles listed here are a clear reflection of my professional interests at any given time, and a hazier reflection of my non-professional interests. For the curious: Any tag beginning "2400-" refers to one of the various incarnations of my bread-and-butter course, "STS 2400: Introduction to Science, Technology, and Society" and any tag beginning "Library-" refers to a readily accessible (to me) library system that has a copy of the book.

FYI
I have upload a cover for The Quiet Warrior: A Biography of Admiral Raymond A. Spruance by Thomas B. Buell. This is from the original 1974 Little, Brown edition.
