About meI am a library school graduate, and a former New York City bookseller.

About my libraryWelcome to _Small Press Pittsburgh_

This catalog is a project to make bibliographic records for as many of the small press items from Pittsburgh presses as I can find metadata for. Inspired by librarian Jim Danky, this collection will include literary presses, zines, comics, artist books, political presses, neighborhood newspapers, association newsletters, military newspapers, and other types of items not yet forseen. The presses have to be independently operated (grant recipients ok), which means I won't be including any University presses here. My hope is to create (together with the Wiki) a sort of virtual small press center for Pittsburgh, PA as well as provide a discovery tool for librarians and readers interested in small press or Pittsburgh presses. Please note, I am trying to add a publisher tag for each press, so that you can click that tag and easily collocate all books by that press. You can also choose display style "C" in the library to see publisher information in the catalog's list view.

Looking Up at Leaves

(Barbara Howes)

No one need feel alone looking up at leaves.
There are such depths to them, withdrawal, welcome,
A fragile tumult on the way to sky.
This great trunk holds apart two hemispheres
We lie between...Like water lilies
Leaves fall, rise, waver, echoing
On their blue pool, whispering under the sun;
While in this shade, under our hands the brown
Tough roots seek down, lily roots searching
Down through their pool of earth to an equal depth.
Constant as water lilies we lie still,
Our breathing like the lapping of pond water,
Balanced between reflection and reflection.
I think that your library makes a terrific contribution to small-press publishing in your area. You have a library with a purpose. Great work.
Karen Lillis is coming to read at the 510 Readings this fall. Hope you check it out!
Small press event: A chapbook launch, then a small press exhibit for the month of May:

Thanks for tagging us as an interesting library.
This is a really cool idea, let me know if you need assistance with anything.
Welcome, Small Press. Thanks for looking at my library. Actually I just left PGH in Jan. 2008, now in Denver. I have a former history with libraries in preservation--not a librarian (but I play one on TV).

I'm trying to think how I can help you with your project. I looked at here and at the wiki. Thanks for listing the PGH poetry calendar. I started that there and have now passed it off.

It's hard to classify or show a press, but have you heard of _Along These Rivers_ a poetry / photo anthology to celebrate PGH 250th. Link below.
Wow, this is weird, we are actually relocating to Pgh at the end of May. Sounds like we need to talk!
