About meInto total immersion luddism- the kind where you turn out all the lights and tell scary stories by the fire, not the kind where you dress up like the Burger King and go jousting. Almost everything I even think of doing seems like it’s going to bore me silly until I actually get there, do it and then it’s the best. I’m moving a lot now, so most of my books are in storage. Most of everything is in storage. I do have what I call the ‘Traveling Library’ that I’ve been carting around for the past few years; that’s what I’m going to be entering.

In considering joining Library Thing, I looked at a list of the books I’ve read over the past few years and noticed that a lot were trash. Most pretty bad trash. I’m OK with that, but I do want to skew back to more challenging works. I used to never read anything published in the last 100 years, but then one day I went to a hooge book sale in DC and mysteries were 65 cents each. I thought that was a fine deal and I should buy, like, 500 of them. So I blame Goodwill for the shocking decline in my reading standards, and not the verity that even bad trash can be enormously entertaining.

I buy books compulsively but I’ve never bought one, not a single volume, that I didn’t think sometime, somewhere I would like to read it. This has led me to buy Invertebrate Embryology and a Jeeves book on the same day. I’ll read them both (if I live to be 1000), but chances are I’ve already done so with the Wodehouse and the text book is in storage. I read somewhat less compulsively.

May 31- Ladies and Gentlemen (and Other), I have finished entering the 'Travelling Library'. Ease back off the edge of your seat and resume normal operations.

About my libraryWe have an open relationship, but really I don't know what I'd do without it.
