About mePeople have asked, sooooo - the reason I have few books catalogued is because I came over to LT when the BookMooch forum started to creak and misbehave (have now added some books in a desperate attempt to have them link with FB - still trying!) - I'm only here for the company (and very good company it is, too!). I'm a voracious reader and will inhale anything except romances, most sf (although I do love Iain M Banks), most fantasy (although I adore Pratchett and Tom Holt) and post-apocalyptic (they give me nightmares ...). I live in Dunoon on the banks of the Clyde, with a lovely husband, two rescue cats, no TV, plenty of cryptic crosswords and squillions of books :-)

Hi. England v. France was better than it might have been - viewing was not wasted time. However with Hodgson's flat back four and deep defense England may not get beaten but don't look like winning much. We will see.

Thanks for you answer to 224 in the "Person Below Me"
thread.

I can see the logic of it, but I'm still not sure that
I would have been better off
if I had followed the advice of the Science Major that I
quoted (224) and been forced to learn a particular science
in the same way its majors learned it. But I used to feel
the same way about the Humanities, as studied by non-majors:
that they would be better off taking a course in a particular
Humanities discipline -- English, Foreign Language/Literature,
or Philosophy (which we considered a "Humanity", though not

all colleges do). Glad, howevwer, that you hit on
a good particular "science as the specialists learn it"
course. And sorry about the bad poiont of view encountered
in the Physics course.
Sophie,

I have received Put a Lid On It and The Big Blind that I am angeling for you. I have posted them to my inventory (turtlegirl on BM) as Angel Books #1 and 2 reserved for you.

Kristin
Hi Sophie!

I came over to your profile page to check out your bright hair (from the TPBM thread) and am enthralled with the phrase 'squillions' of books.

Made me smile.

Have a great day (or, evening today and day tomorrow!)

karenmarie
What a great idea! I've had a quick look at the site and I've just signed up, now to find the time to add the books.
Thank you!
Monica
Sophie- I have posted The Amateur Historian that I am angeling for you to my inventory (turtlegirl on BM) as Angel Book #3 reserved for you.

Sophie- I have received The Amateur Historian that I am angeling for you. Would you mind if I gave it a quick and careful read before sending it on to you?

Hi, Sophie - I'd forgotten about Buckie (Wreck-the-Hoose-Juice). A fascinating Wikipedia entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckfast_Tonic_Wine

Happy Crimbo and lang may yer lum reek!

Hi Sophie, please change the reservation to robmonster.
thanks so much!
Thanks, Sophie!
Hi Sophie, I've just requested a UK angel for Christopher Fowler: Full Dark House. Will you please hold it while I find someone? Thanks. jenni
Ophelia thanks you for the compliment. She was being particularly naughty tonight. She didn't want to go outside, so she laid flat out on the floor under a table knowing full well I could never lift her up from that position!
I loved the Guernsey book as well. Have you read "84 Charing Cross Road"? It is another delightful book full of letters. Lots of us in the GD enjoyed them both.
So what Tom Holt book would you recommend to someone who hasn't read him yet?
Great! I will re-add the book reserved for her tonight and send it off tomorrow.
Hey Sophie--I took GET REAL out of my inventory at BookMooch, so just let me know when you find an Angel and I can put it back up reserved for them. :)
Got it. My story is almost the opposite- I joined LT because, without a catalog, I found myself buying the same book several times. Also, I am hoping to convince myself to read something other than the cheesy mysteries that have been my staple for the past few years. There's so much out there, considering it can be almost overwhelming.

Happy reading, and more posts!
Why no books? BTW, the image of a yacht decorated with Christmas trees made me laugh. I'd like to go to Dubai probably for the same reason I like Las Vegas so much- it's completely unlike everywhere else. I went to school with a kid from the UAE, he had a townhouse on Thomas Jefferson street in Georgetown that was directly over the canal. I couldn't even guess how much something like that cost, even before the housing price inflation of the mid 00s.

I listed Close Case a few days ago-- please mooch it and I'll get it out this next week.
