GroupsCan you recommend.....

About meI can't remember not being able to read - and my mother says she can't remember me not being able to read either! I'm in my early 40s, live in Yorkshire, and like to cook and embroider when I'm not reading.

About my libraryI hope, once I get all my books added in, that it will speak for itself. That's going to take a while though!

Thanks for recommending Traditional Icelanding Embroidery. I had it on search everywhere and sure enough, after six months *one* copy showed up --- for such a rare, elusive book a $29 b-i-n on eBay looked like a steal... I'm awaiting its arrival with barely restrained excitement. :)
Hi,
I am very envious of your WW2/British Home Front collection. There's actually a group, "Blitz Books", about the subject, in case you're interested.
Cheers,
Wunderkind
I've already registered a search/want for the Icelandic embroidery book on Abebooks so I'll know the next time it shows up. And while I'm at it I did the same on Ebay, where the chances of another person wanting it the same week are fairly slim.

Thanks so much for the offer of DMC colour information -- as you can see from my crafts library I could probably find another project (lol) but if I absolutely feel I have to do some Icelandic cross stitch I'll send you an SOS!
I just had a random and belated thought. Not only did your thoughtfulness make LT work for me, I'm also being rewarded for writing a review of a book! Hey. Not bad.

And speaking of rewards for book reviews, did you know that you can sign up as an Early Reviewer on LT and have a chance at receiving free copies of books from the publishers in exchange for promising to write a review?
Thank you so much for the hint on the Elsa E. Gudjonsson book. It sounds wonderful. Interesting notes on history and techniques! I'm very interested in Icelandic history even without the embroidery. It seems it will be a bit elusive to track down though. Not listed on Abebooks, and Amazon acknowledges its existence but has none on offer!

So kind of you to take the time to tell me about it. This is one of the best things about LT.

I admire your library-so-far. Did you really list nearly one thousand books in a week, with all those images and all those tags? Formidable. I'm going to add it to my interesting-libraries list for the sake of all your unique and nearly unique embroidery books.
