About meFree spirit, kindred soul; dreamer, mama, taker-in of strays. Homesteading seamstress; voracious book reader; a song-singing sylvan, lost in the dream time.
A fortune-telling ballerina; year of the horse, bohemian traveler with a weakness for the picaresque.

Things that fascinate me:
* Museums, Caves, Catacombs, Tombs, Mountains, Bog Bodies, Cliff Mummies, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Books, Books, Books; Subterranean Cities Of Centuries Past, The Valley Of The Kings; Orchid River, Capuchin Catacombs Of Palermo, Mayan Ruins, The Incan Civilization, The Anasazi, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Borneo, Head Hunters, Tribal Life, Atlantis, Ghost Towns, Deadwood, Annie Oakley, The Wild West, Places That Time Forgot… Lakes, River Otters, The Nile; Strange Monster-Like Artifacts Still Swimming In The Deep, Giant Squid, Eels, Angler Fish, Growling, Man-Eating Catfish, Coelacanths, Under Water Volcanoes, Lakes Underneath The Ocean… Tasmanian Tigers, Giant Insects, Wandering Spiders, Dinosaurs, Fossils, Tattoos, Libraries, The Zoo, Dingo, Hyena, Magpies, Bower Birds, Belly Dancers, Feathers, Peacocks, Owls, The Pale Blue… The Smell Of Books & The Invitation Of A Virgin Piece Of Paper; Old Photographs In Sepia Tone, Black And White Film, Polaroid’s, Boudicca, Fairy Tales & Fables, Geisha, Oirans, Tayuu, Courtesans, Mistresses And Lovers, Traveling Circuses, Brothels, Saloons, & Other Houses Of Ill Repute…

Things that move me:
*Thunderstorms & the way lightening illuminates the sky for brief moments in the black of night; Summer, The smell of freshly mowed lawns, humid days when the sun beats down and permeates my skin into my bones, Blood Oranges, The magnificent simplicity of homemade lemonade (sugar, lemons & Ice), Lilies & Tuberose, Willows and Hyacinth, Sandalwood & ylang-ylang, Roses, Climbing Ivy on old stone homes. Blue Moons, Beltane, The way your clothes smell the morning after a bonfire, homesteading, tipi’s, yurts, cabins, wool spinning, sheep herding, daisy chains, rolling around in the dirt with the dogs when you should be weeding the garden, Guinness, Patchouli, Freckles on the bridge of a girl’s nose, The way a man’s hands feel rough against my skin, Having my hair played with, The beautiful tear-drop shape of a woman’s breast from the side, Flowers in a girl’s hair, The scratchy pops when the needle hits vinyl; riding the rapid when there’s nowhere to go just to look at graffiti and contemplating how the artist got it there; Feeding seagulls French fries in parking lots, traveling, Diners, Dives, The Desert, The Ocean. Standing outside after a blizzards worth of snow has fallen, and that echoing emptiness blanketed in white that makes you feel like you’re the only person in the universe. Singing at the top of my lungs when no one is listening, Laughing so hard I can’t breathe, people who makes me smile so much it hurts, Old cars, Big boots, Lingerie, Letters for no reason, Buying presents for people for no reason, Night time when it’s so quiet it’s loud, A kiss that tastes of smoke and whisky, catching fire flies, Midsummer Night’s lullaby of bullfrogs and crickets, Leaving food out for the raccoons (even though I get yelled at for it), The way raccoons use their hands like people; Drum Circles, Long hair, being barefoot; poi (as in spinning fire), Lounging around half dressed over a cup of coffee (2 creams please) on lazy Sundays, Jumping into lakes with my eyes closed, Yo-Yo’s, Alternative Medicine, the way tomatoes taste right off the vine. The Violin, The aching sound of Bagpipes or Fiddles, The spooky sound of the Samisen, Piano Men, Rowdy Boys, Wolverines, Coyotes, Cigarettes, Playboy Magazine, phosphorescence, fire lanterns, porch swings, weeping guitars…

About my libraryI read just about anything (I've been known to read product labels in an act of desperation). i never leave home without my ereader, & at least 2 backup books in case my ereader isn't working. I have a soft spot for books about courtesans, mistresses, & purported she-wolves. I love historical fiction, especially about the monarchy. Big books make me giddy. I sometimes trip because I'm walking while I'm reading. I'm also sort of a klutz, but we'll just blame it on the books, 'kay?

My Kryptonite:
Historical Fiction, Historical Biographies, Memoirs, Travelogues, Natural History & Science, Addiction Medicine, Animal Behaviour, Cultural Study, Sociology, Anthropology, Archaeology.
