About meI am a writer of children's books. I am also a mother of two and lover of baseball and soup. Before any of that, I was a teacher. Before that, I wanted to be a director of plays. Before that, I wanted to do stand-up comedy. Before that, I wanted a big girl bike. Which I now have, and ride whenever Michigan weather cooperates.

You can hear my thought about books, writing, and other things at www.jacquirobbins.blogspot.com.

About my libraryMy husband would like me to confess that this is a shared library. Tis true.

Entering all my books was like a family reunion. I was thrilled to see and remember everyone, warmed by the memories, charmed by how different they all were, and wishing I had more time to spend with each of them. After a while, though, they just kept coming, they wouldn't gel together like I wanted, and I had to kick some of them out.

I am not finished cataloging our picture book collection; I have to wrench the rest from my five year-old.

Beauty
by Charles Baudelaire

I AM as lovely as a dream in stone,
And this my heart where each finds death in turn,
Inspires the poet with a love as lone
As clay eternal and as taciturn.

Swan-white of heart, a sphinx no mortal knows,
My throne is in the heaven's azure deep;
I hate all movements that disturb my pose,
I smile not ever, neither do I weep.

Before my monumental attitudes,
That breathe a soul into the plastic arts,
My poets pray in austere studious moods,

For I, to fold enchantment round their hearts,
Have pools of light where beauty flames and dies,
The placid mirrors of my luminous eyes.
