About meI'm a 50 year old RN from the Minneapolis area and I've been a bookworm since I was 4. I'm married for the second time and have 3 kids from my first marriage, ages 24, 21 and 17. Favorite genres are mystery, fantasy, and historical fiction with a special interest in historical mysteries, particularly the middle ages and medieval time periods--anything before about 1800 will catch my attention for sure! Other hobbies include making handmade soaps, playing around in the kitchen and playing World of Warcraft.

About my libraryI live in an apartment, so my library is somewhat smaller than many bibliophiles'. When you move often, you think twice and three times about what's really worth keeping. I also have a slightly different philosophy than some--I believe books are meant to be read, so having books just for the sake of having them doesn't really appeal to me because there aren't many that I will re-read or delve into more than once. Since I discovered Paperbackswap.com, I've been trading off a great majority of the books I read to other folks--my "keeper" shelf is relatively small, and most of the books I have right now are on my "TBR" piles.

Noticed you liked Girl Interrupted, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a disturbed young girl's mental illness and also a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

The Arrow And The Song
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
Hi Cheryl
In your review of The Tainted Relic you state that Bernard Knight and Susanna Gregory are actually the same person. This is definitely not the case. Susanna Gregory is a personal friend of mine and she does not write under any other name, except for her academic writing which is published under her own name.

Always nice to find other fans of Martin. I still have A Feast for Crows left to read in ASOIF. I'm about half-way through it now. How did you like it?

And of course, you have to love Tolkien. I see you have him listed among your favorites.

Hi--I like your library, lol...and it is wonderful that you are a World of Warcraft person! My son and daughter-in-law got me started on it...it is alot of fun. Robert Jordan is one of my favorite authors...and when I am playing WOW, I feel like I am in the middle a great fantasy adventure!

What do you think of the Dexter books? I liked them all...hummmm may have to be a little worried there, lol.
Hope to hear from you!
Hi Cheryl- Just wanted to pop in, say hello, and wish you a belated happy new year! It's been a while since we've talked. Hope things are going very well with you so far in 2008. Things with me are alright. Work is starting to get really busy now, and I'm trying to find another way to go abroad for an extended period of time- we'll see how it works out! Read anything good lately? :-)

Hey, there - took me a while to catch on the this place, but once RAM talked me into it I found I love it.
We have a few books in common, no surprise there.
So fun to see other PBS members here. With 62 books in common, you're definitely on my watch list!
Since I've been putting more time into getting all my books catalogued here, our "common numbers" keep creeping up. One more book, and we'll hit the 200 mark!
I am not that surprised to see how many we have in common! You are the second person on my list on the weighted users! I am surprised that we dont have more in common...but you know I hang on to my books more then you do. I need to start developing your philosophy more because I am running out of room!!! Take Care!!
Now we're up to 135! Between you, me and Nichole, we should just consolidate and each take turns reading a book we all three think we'd like, and then deciding whether it's "wish list-worthy" for the others ;-)
Hi, Cheryl! Not too shabby, 156 in common. :-) I'm enjoying browsing through everyone I know's library. Have a great day.
Hi Cheryl,
Just going through and seeing how many books I have in common with all the bookworms gals, we have 70 books in common.. Not too many when you think about it, you have almost 1,000 and I have almost 1,500 thats only 70 books out of 2,500 when must have vastly different reading interests.. Isn't that cool, there are just SO many books out there..
Happy New Year!!

Welcome to LibraryThing, Cheryl! I'm glad you're here, as I have a feeling I'll be looking through your shelves a lot. 108 books already :-)

PS- If you want my ARC of the Sister Pelagia book, let me know. I'd be happy to send it along to you. At least, at some point in the future. I don't know when I'll be getting to a post office in the next month or so.
Good to see you here, Cheryl. Now I can have a wander through those shelves of yours! LOL
