I stumbled across your collection through a match with "The Cherry Hill, Poplar Springs, Reid Community in Calhoun County, Mississippi". It looks like you have a good NC genealogical collection. Hope you will be able to attend the NGS conference in Raleigh in May.
Hi Stirkk - I am also a librarian! I just finished my MLS in Aug. 2006. My instructors' words are still ringing in my ears of CITE, CITE, CITE!!! My school favored APA style for citations so I try to use something as close to that as possible. One of my favorite classes was on electronic databases and internet sites. Our instructor really stressed the need to determine the "authority" of the web sites. If I don't find a citation with a family tree, I really wonder if I can trust the "authority" of the information.

My college did not require a full blown cataloging course to graduate, only the intro course. My experience is mainly with copy cataloging. Instead, I took Collection Development which was of more interest to me personally. Now I am starting the process of collection development for my own little genealogy library. Great to "meet" another librarian. - Kay
