About meI’m a 62-year-old empty nester who retired from a collegiate library job where I did the interlibrary loans for the college. In my previous life, I was an Army television broadcaster in Germany and then an officer in the Navy for many years. My DH is a retired Naval officer who is now a contractor working with the military (aren’t they all?). I have a wonderful daughter and son-in-law who work as biochemists in the Washington, DC area and a wonderful son and daughter-in-law and two delightful grandchildren who are living lives of voluntary poverty among the urban poor both here and abroad as they seek to love and serve them in all facets of their lives. My mother started me on the path to reading and I've been running full-tilt along that path ever since. In addition to reading, I also enjoy knitting, crocheting, quilting, fiber spinning, and playing the piano.

About my libraryMost of my hard-copy library is non-fiction, with the bulk of the collection falling into the categories of Religion, Knitting, Crocheting, Quilting, and Diet and Health. I used to buy many fiction books, mainly mysteries, but tend to read them and then donate them to local libraries or resell them on Amazon. Once I read a fiction book, I usually don't like to reread it. It's just a little quirk of mine. I'm the same way with movies. In the last few years, I've been buying most of my fiction in e-book format for my Kindle and my Nook.
