Provide me with the quote where "Beardsley confidently asserts that the English would never have "been driven to the last dread alternative", as Rae put it", as you suggest in your review of my book Deadly Winter, Ted, and I'll eat humble pie.

I suspect I'll be waiting a long time, because I know I didn't write that!

What you might find if you look is that Eskimoes 'may have' resorted to cannibalising the bodies of Franklin's crew, but that 'it is well within the bounds of possibility' that it was surving crewmen themselves who did so (p235).
