About me I am a young, creative author that writes speculative fiction and Fantasy. I enjoy a mix of the modern and the mythical, kind of like urban fantasy, but also I love Terry Pratchett's Discworld books for their originality and humor. Neil Gaiman is another one of my favorites. When I'm not working on my latest book, I'm playing guitar, ukulele, painting and drawing my illustrations, as well as appreciating visits to Art Galleries and book talks. I have a twin brother who's at University now, and he visits me occasionally.

Hey thanks for letting me be your friend!

By the way, I was just browsing your reviews and came across the one for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Wow. I had no idea, and I did read the book and I am guilty of veiwing it as an accurate account without actually knowing anyone with the condition or anything about it. I suppose in the same way that everyone thinks Rainman is an authority on Autism when really it is just an interesting film that got the condition a bit more recognised. I really appreciated your take on the book and the way you have amended your own views on it. Thanks.
I don't know why it wasn't working and the error message came up.

I just typed in the http://www.comingupforair.net and got the site and at the top is a menu with ojingogo as one of the choices. When I clicked on it they said they wre revamping the site but a picture still appeared with a previous button and I could look through the pictures but it doesn't give the comic layout like it used to do. Hopefully when they finish the revamp the strip will still be there.

The whole site looks different today and a lot of the drawings and messages are not there, which is a shame as for someone interested in this sort of art and artwork the site was really good.

I'd say to keep trying to find it because it is worth the look when you do. I originally found it by putting the search "free art" into google to see what came up. Quite a lot actually and not all of it pretty (or polite!) but some good stuff came back too and Ojingogo was one of the good bits.
Jake: I just noticed your addition of "I Sing the Body Electric." These stories are older than you are, but so good, so evocative. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Also hope your social ife is making you smile!! GrannyMary
Hi Jacob,

Thank you for the friendship add. I see you've been to my side of the world, as your profile photo suggests. I've also visited Sydney twice and had a great time! I can't wait for the next trip.

Happy Reading,

Tina
Hi Teen

Congrats on the royalties -- you've made more than i did on mine, tho'/as mine were part of the job.

When was the Leunig cartoon? I suspect us naughty schoolboys were mangling the carol when your parents were still in nappies, or at least in primary school!

Strength to your elbows

Congratulations on your first royalty check! You are now a sure-enough professional. I think you've made more money on your writing than Franz Kafka ever did on his. Good job.
HI
I stumbled across this blog post from the fairly well established writer kate Elliot who I've not read, about how to write and get published, which you've posted a few times about. Just thought you might be interested.

Fox.
so,

where was i?

i don't know how much you know about me, so here's a few:

i'm 56. employed more often then not. read a lot of poetry and now and then write a bit.

and i don't know what this connection can do, i tend to turn in to the old story-teller old man sort when i find myself conversing with 20 year olds,

so, if you're patient, you can probably just nod now and then, pretend you're listening, and i won't even seem to notice.

have you submitted any of your writing anywhere? and if so, how's that working out?
Jacob,

I've been following a few threads in which you've posted. I'm not going to reiterate what others have argued to death already. The only thing I will add is that in the publishing industry, no matter who you are or in what you succeed, there will be those who will find reason to look down on you. So long as you believe in yourself, in what you do, and in how you do it, those who believe similarly will gather around you.

Moral of the story: Much like a hardcover on a book, a thick skin on an author will go a long way.

Teen: So nice to see your smiling face! I've been anxious to see what you look like. Taller than I expected - and a bit greener. Oh, wait. That's not you.....*grin* Just kidding. I am glad to see your picture.
Teen, your book arrived well this morning. Offering to sell it as hardback was a wise choice, it looks pretty decent. It will be the next book after I finish my current read.
Wow, through the wonders of the modern postal service I came home to find your book sitting in my nice comfy reading nook begging to be opened. Tell me, who could resist when you randomly open it to find a poem entitled "Tribute to Alan Moore's Beard"?
try my short story collection that came out this summer:

I just bought one of your books from Lulu. I think it will take at least 6 weeks before it gets here. Looking forward to read it!
Lulu shipped out your book on the 15th that is a very fast turn around time. So I am expecting it to get to me by the 22nd or 23rd, I will let you know as soon as it arrives! I can't wait to read it!
Hey Teen...thanks so much for joining my group. If you have any friends it would be great if you invited them. It's time we broaden our minds...and our libraries! ;-)
Hi Teen - while reading posts this AM, over coffee, I stumbled across a comment you made about wanting Man and His Symbols, by Carl Jung. I have a copy I would be willing to give you although if you are in Australia it might cost me "an arm and a leg" to send. If you are seriously wanting it I could do some research on what it might cost to send it and then maybe we can figure out a way to make it work for us both. You can email me directly at maggie1944@comcast.net
