I write historical novels for teens and picture books for children. Titles include BETSY AND THE EMPEROR (Simon & Schuster/McElderry), which is published in l4 languages and is in development as a movie expected to star Al Pacino as Napoleon Bonaparte; BLACK POWDER; and (coming in July 2007 from Simon & Schuster/McElderry Books) THE CURSE OF THE ROMANOVS. The latter two books are time travel fantasies involving real historical figures.

My next picture book will be MR. LINCOLN'S BOYS (2008, Viking). My books blend history and fiction, have detailed historical notes that clearly separate fact from fiction, and, in addition to being read "just for fun" can be (and are) used in the classroom to teach history, social studies, geography, language arts, or creative writing. When I was growing up, I had great history teachers who made learning fun. It's my hope that my books will get kids excited about history. I can be reached at Cutebunion@aol.com
