About meHi Everyone!
I am a high school English teacher. I love books, a good conversation over a sharp shiraz, teenagers, my husband, gardening, cooking, chocolate, spring, northern lights, travel and nongratis humanitarian work. The order of that may change on any given day, depending on my world at the moment! My life is shaped to a great degree by my faith in and understanding of Jesus Christ. I have no kids, but a cat and a fish instead! I have run a 5K marathon successfully and might try for a 10K this summer. I'm working on a Master's Degree and, well, that about wraps that up.

Am looking forward to hearing from you! Don't be shy!

About my libraryMy library is eclectic. I can't throw books away, but have weeded the collection and given away scads of books to which I feel a lesser attachment. I especially love christian/inspirational, biography and social history when it comes to nonfiction; I have a fondness for historical fiction (if it's well researched), science fiction, fantasy, young adult fiction, mystery (especially medical mystery!), and sometimes even classics!

I don't know that I would run for chocolate, but I'd certainly walk for it! I enjoy walking a good deal. My knees won't handle running anymore! My favorite chocolate is Cadburys, when I can get it, but those dark chocolate M & Ms are wonderful too, and they're easier to find. Yum!!

Oddly enough, the few books my husband has read are not ones I would have thought he would read. He's read [Shogun] and the entire [Clan of the Cave Bear] series. That's been awhile, though. He loves the LoTR movies, which we watch frequently. We never see it without my going, "You know, you really should read the books. I have them all. They're right over there on the shelf." It hasn't worked yet.

It looks like I will be spending another year in middle school; the high school job didn't work out. It all seemed to be going fine until some politics at the county office interfered. I got caught in the middle of a power struggle. I'm sure there's a real good reason why God wants me in middle school again, but I sure wish He would let me know! At least I will be back in 7th grade, which I much prefer over 8th.

Are you reading [Elantris]? I was having a hard time getting into it, but it's gotten better. I'm glad I've stuck with it. Now, if I can only find time to finish it!

Hi! I peaked at your profile after seeing your name at the Green Dragon. We have a lot in common! I currently teach 8th grade, but I interviewed for a 10th grade position just today, so I hope to be a high school English teacher soon. I teach teenagers and have one of my own; my older son just turned 20 about 2 weeks ago, so in my mind, he's still a teenager too. I am happily married to a teacher who doesn't like to read. (I have been working for years trying to convert him, to no avail.) We are very active in our church, and I read a good many Christian fiction and nonfiction books. I have a growing collection of Amish fiction, most of it by Beverly Lewis. I finished my Masters in '05, so I have been there too.

I haven't done any running, however - you've got me there! I might consider running for chocolate though.

Cheers!
