Wow, that is close. I am excited too, because you are the first one that I have talked to, to even live in Utah. So this is such a great surprise. I actually was born and raised in Utah (and no I am not offended AT ALL). What about you? Its also neat we are so close in age as well. I didn't realize you were so close to my age as well. That is awesome.

Thanks for the info! I think that will be my next read then as it doesn't sound like too horrible of a cliffie. Have you ever read Glass Houses by Rachel Caine? That's the kind of ending that drives me batty. I was moderately annoyed then by it way back when I first read it but if I read that book now I might have been tempted to ditch the entire series which would be a bummer because I really do like the books. I guess old age is making me less patient LOL!

Hi TBQ!

I'm back for another bit of advice, hope you don't mind. I picked "Blood Promise" up from the library today which I requested over a month ago. After I made the request I began reading reviews discussing the "cliffhanger" at the end. Before I start this I'd like to know...is it a cliffie like in the last book where you're at a natural break in the story, which didn't bother me, or is it a stop in the middle of a scene, wanna throw the book against the wall cliffie? I hate those with a passion and would much rather wait for the next book to come out before reading this one if that's the case.

It never used to bother me, but over the last year I've developed a real hatred for the scene stop cliffhanger. It just seems so cheap and annoying.

Once again, hope you don't mind my asking!

The reason why I stopped by, I wondered, since you like romances and Highland tales, if you had read Bertrice Small's Border Chronicles series. There's a new one coming out this week and I've read the others.
They are:

2. The Border Lord's Bride (2007)
3. The Captive Heart (2008)
4. The Border Lord and the Lady (2009)

I haven't had much reading time this last week (if you look at my updated profile pic you'll see why) and had a really hard time with my most recent read but I finished it off last night and am happily moving on to another Dresden installment. After this I'll probably read "Lord of Fire" for the romance group. Some good news is I've finally received notification that the Nora Roberts book I ordered at the beginning of May is in transit. Not sure if I should read that first since it was our May pick, or if I should do the June one first because it is the current one. Decisions...decisions.

OMG...I saw that you have Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side in your "want to read" list. You HAVE to go pick this book up. I just finished it yesterday. I think you LOVE it! I had the same emotional connection to the characters that I did with Twilight. It is excellent!!!!!

Rather than Highjacking the thread and responding to you on there, I thought I would write a response here... I felt like we were taking over the thread responding back and forth. To keep track of my TBR I made a list in my library on here.. LOL.. That way I could keep track of them all. I hope I didn't break your will power to watch you pennies. I just got lucky on that one on Amazon. I am always looking for deals especially on books. I actually kind of hide some of my books so Hubby doesn't see them all the time LOL.. I have been buying under the bed totes to store some in, however I am running out of room. I am thinking of buying another book case however Hubby would probably through a hissy fit.. LOL.. Oh well like I said before could have a worse hobby or obsession rather.. I see that the more you and I add to our libraries the more we have in common. I am glad the search paramaters on here work so well, I have found many new friends like this and glad to have you as on of them. Hope you get the opportunity to read the first four before the newest one arrives and hopefully you will get a deal too... Take care.

Hi Book Queen.... I'm from New Zealand, just joined up like 5 minutes ago and saw that I have basically every book that you do too! I've just moved into a new place that has a high ceilings, so perfect for my bookcases and all my books - i'm going on 1000 that I personally own - but as always have an endless list! Amazon and I are so tight right now! LOL.
Anyway, just wanted to say a quick hello and if you have any recommendations about current or new books coming out would be much appreciated!

Thanks! With The Darkest Night I was able to top off my dhampir/demons catagory. I did put Stray on my werecats list before. That's one that has actually been on my BookMooch list forever, I may have to get it out of the library instead.

I remember seeing the Nalini Singh books a while back and thinking they looked interesting. I'll have to add her to my psychics list!

I joined the Paranormal 999 Challenge and the 999 Challenge thinking I'd be able to get a lot off my tbr pile but instead I keep seeming to add more to my wishlist LOL! Oh well, at least it will be fun!!

I'm trying to fill in my 999 challenges and hope you don't mind me asking a question. Does The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter have anything to do with demons and/or guardians of some type? There is a demon/dhampir catagory and a law enforcement/guardian catagory and I'm having trouble filling them.

Also, do you have any werecat or psychic suggestions?

I'm trying hard to stick with stuff already in my tbr pile but don't mind searching out other works if necessary. I thought I'd ask you because we share a lot of the same interests in books.

Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, The Lovely Bones is being made into a movie that I THINK comes out next year. I have heard about Blue Bloods and if it doesn't have that much romance then I probably won't read it. I only read Twilight (with its vampires) because of the romance. I have a lot of favourite quotes from Twilight as well, Edward is a very romantic soul and everything he says comes out like classic poetry.

That last "Edward" quote is so beautiful, it is my favourite in the whole wide world, Stephenie may not be the next J.K Rowling but she's pretty amazing in her own way, she is the perfect expresser. Anyway, I am also stuck for the "next to read" book, I would prefer a romance, something sweet and sincere, I hate books where the boy and girl are just obsessed with each other's body, that's probably why I enjoyed Twilight so much, it was one of the first "true love" romance books that I read. I am the sort of girl who loves romantic, gooey things .. I have no boundaries (you can suggest an Adult book) but not too violent, graphic etc. I am only thirteen but I can handle things. Hm, I'm not sure how old you are but if you haven't, read The Lovely Bones. It is amazing. Well, thanks anyway.

I saw you had a review (by browsing your comments) and so I read it too -- fantastic. I loved the way you said, 'The love story of Bella and Edward transends mere fiction,' because I've always felt that the love they shared is enigmatic and oftentimes, trancendental, that it leaps off the page and becomes something tangible (or as tangible as real love anyway), all of which you stated.

And yeah, I do have sort of mixed emotions about stephenie though, for sort of 'tricking' her fans, leading them to believe it was the ultimate love story, when it was really the ultimate love story packaged within something even bigger.

But yeah, loved the books, loved your review, thanks for the comment.

Hey I just wanted to say thank you for your recommendation. That seems like a weird thing to thank someone for but actually, its weird. The thing is that I read City of Bones around the time it first came out but I couldn't remember what it was called and I knew there was supposed to be at least a sequel so I kept looking at looking for it but I could never find it. I know what you mean, it took me a year to get around to reading it once it was recommended to me - once I started Outlander, I was hooked! I couldn't think about anything else while reading the series. Outlander is my favorite of all the books - my first love! :D

Oh and I forgot, the Outlandish Companion is like a encyclopia that answer many questions in the books, best to read it after you've read the first 4 books though, since there are lots of spoilers.

Oh, I have no doubt you'll become obsessed. My book blog is called Outlandish Dreaming! I make lots of those kind of icons just to feed my obsession, I'm crazy about the love story between Jamie and Claire. Jamie is just the perfect man - a Scottish highlander who puts all the alpha male highlanders in other books to shame! (granted Jamie is a bit too perfect, but I still love him to death!) Definitely buy the books for they are the kind of books you re-read over and over (I have!)

That's understandable. I haven't read that particular title. I know what you mean. I really love the paranormal romance books. I'm not a big straight romance fan. Every once in a while I'm handed a romance that I enjoy just because of the characters. Being a teacher, I have one set in the early days of our country traveling out West with a teacher and a rover. Great book, but only because I liked to see how the teacher handled it.

The Outlander series has time travel, but that's about the extent of the paranormal involved. There is a character that they believe to be a witch, also.

The parents that don't see it that way are the problem. If they're TRULY take an interest in their child they would read along with them and discuss the issues at hand. (Nothing wants to make a kid do something more than telling him/her that he/she's not allowed to.)

I've noticed that our smaller Walmart doesn't have as great of a book selection. But the Superstore has an awesome selection. Not only did they have The Host the day after the release (I wasn't there on release day) they had the audiobook, too!

Unfortunately, I didn't pick up the audiobook. I'll have to preview it on iTunes to see if I can deal with the narrator. I can't stand the girl that does Twilight.

I use Amazon a lot. They even donate to my favorite charity when I shop there. Not to mention the discounts are very nice! And things get shipped directly to me. I don't mind waiting (and getting free shipping) if it's an older book that I don't have to worry about HAVING to have it right at release.

I agree with you completely. If you don't trust what your kid is reading you need to pre-read their books. But let's face by the time your kid is a teenager they've had the opportunity to do the things from that book and WORSE! No one is doing drugs (other than the faery wine, but that doesn't really count.) They're morally pretty straight. You could have much worse.

When I was in middle school my mother bought me the Outlander series. There is straight up sex in that book series! By your teenage years you more than know what it is. It isn't like they don't show it on the television and in movies all the time.

I'd rather have my kid reading about it than for them to be out doing it! I don't find anything in her books to be a problem. I'd allow my (not that I have one) teenage child to read it. There are much worse books (that are classics even.) I suppose they shouldn't be reading Chaucer's Canterbury Tales with all the debauchery they hold....

Luckily, I don't have far to go to get to a bookstore. We have 3 Barnes and Nobles within 20 minutes of me and a Borders. I've found some great things at Walmart (and discounted big time!)

Unfortunately, I picked up Wicked Lovely in paperback. And I like to keep my series in the same cover. (Which didn't work for the Outlander series...since they didn't make the newer ones in the same style as the ones I'd originally gotten.) I'm replacing my Twilight with a hardcover. (I'd picked it up right after it came out at a book fair in soft cover.) I actually gave my soft cover away. But, the other two I have in hardcover.

i went to the barns and noble today and got "Marked" i love it!!!!!!
i wish i could read it now but i have to do homework.(fun i know)
i'm so proud of my self today i Paige G???????, went to the moves
with my friends. you may be asking yourself "what you went to moves
woow" but i have social problem , or my sis tells me.
so when i got home today i'm like "yay, who"s got social problems now. hmmm?!!!
she just looked at me as if i was stupid.(which mit be true:)

i'm still not shor, how can a normal human being read sooo much and yet have time

yes i hate it when you find a book that looks good, then you start to read it and you hate.
but you still force yourself to read it saying it's going to get better and it doesn't. i also hate it when you read the first book to a serices and you loved it but then you read the 2nd book and hate.>_

you readed all three of the lord of the rings series?
i read the hobbit first and than started to read the fellowship of the ring, i got half way, but then stoed, couple of monh later i started to read it again but got last, so then i had to start over, but then i got bord of reading it. so i got audio of it, i have not listened to it yet i think i will soon. i hope i get back in to the series. this may help.BEYZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

freak the mighty is about this scary look guy named Max, he meet is little guy named Kevin who is inthe some grade as him has this disease, where he can grow up, or some thing like that. but the two became friends. and then.......
that's all i'll tell you but it's so cute, but sad at the end. that was the only book that made me cry like that.
but it's still a great book

sorry i just go back from church. yes cleaning the bathroom was soooooooooo fun. it was even betorn when i got to the toilet part, yep it was funalright. right now i'm reading "the changeling sea" by Patricia Mckillip.it's about this girl who's father was a fisher man but died, and mom is like in shock and dose nothing much. but then she meet this prince. it's kind of hard to explain but it's very good. i'm also reading "Hattie big sky" i just started to read it but i think it's good so far. fun a test!!!!! i hate it when teacher make you read book that you don't want too. becauce they etheir pick boring books or sad book that make you cry. once in 5th grade we had to read "freak the Mighty" and at the end i cry so much at home.(but it's a great book).TTYL. i was just looking at the the books your read, i saw The Odyssey, Vampire Diaries : The Fury and Dark Reunion by L.J. Smith
first of alla hve never read tha odyssey, but my told me that it was hard to read and very big.so have fun reading that.just joking. but i have read vampire diaries
i only read 1,2,and half of the 3 book.
the 1,2 and were my favorite od the series.

aaahhhh, yes homework is a big problem for me . i try to do it at home but I usually do it during my lunch time or in Health class. in fact I'm surprised that i have not be hold back in school, i study but not that much and yet i still have Bs in most of my class.hey, good for you, writing a book i want to be one of the firsts that reads your book. what's your book about? that would be so cool if you had your own book store, i mean you could just walk in there and grab a book, read it and put it back, and found a another one.BYEZ!!!!!!!!

yes barnes and Nobles is where i get most of my books. i love that place.i like book but sometime it can get a Iittle bit expensive. so i hope to work there when i'm older
