About meI'm a media specialist Lee's Summit High School. I coach basketball and baseball. I have a Bachelor of Journalism from Mizzou, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Central Missouri, and am finishing my EdSpec in Library Science and Information Technology from UCM. In my spare time, I do landscape and wildlife photography. My photo website is www.michaelrussellphotography.com
About my libraryMy actual library (I'm a media specialist, aka librarian) is at the original high school in Lee's Summit. My librarything library (the collection of things I've read recently) is eclectic. I try to read a little of everything, but I never have as much time as I'd like to read because I teach, coach, and have two small kids. Such is life. I'd rather live it than read about it, but reading is awfully nice. I listen to a lot of audio books to help me keep up.

Here is the link for the 75 challenge group. I've been a member for two years. It is a wonderful experience to be a part of a group of well-read, bright, kind people.
Why not check out some of the threads and see if our group would interest you.
I've been on a quest to read all Newbery award winning books. I started doing this in 2009 and hope to finish in 2010.

I am a member of the 75 challenge group. I recently read Dark Places and thus found your review of this wonderful book.
I note your comment that you primarily read YA. I've discovered this genre since joining the 75 group.

How can you give South of Broad a 5 star rating? Think about how badly the timeframes are done on how his father building a house and then getting married? They make no sense. Looking for Trevor in SF is ridiculous. Just check with welfare and find out he was getting a check. Why else would he be captured unless a check was coming. The existence of Sheba's dad and the lack of security when she is this rich movie star, come on!!!! I loved Prince of Tides but this book was a soap opera which had no basis in reality. Given how Chad acted, he should never ever been accepted as a friend by anyone in that group. Normally, I would not send this type of message out, but it is hard to believe that anyone in their right mind could consider this book to be at a 5 start level. Read something by Lorrie Moore and then realize what good literature really is.
