About meI used to home school our five children using Sonlight materials. Our four oldest children now attend a private school for the first time. I have the littles at home with me now; a first for me. I love to read. I adore my husband. We moved to the UK from the US in August 2007. Moving back to the US in December 2009.

About my libraryI've been tracking my reading since the spring of 2003.

Here is a list of books I own and hope to read in 2009 (so far.)

Jennie Churchill: Winston's American Mother

Four (and onwards) in the Janet Evanovich series

One Day

The last book in the Jan Karon Mitford series (I just don't think I can do it though. If I do, then that's the end, isn't it.)

I'm sure there are others. These are on a shelf, set aside for me to read, or they are ones I just received for Christmas.

I'm ben asher at the SL forums.:-)
Hello--Sorry for the late reply! Haven't been here in a while. You asked what I'm reading: The Bronze Bow, Secrets of the Universe, A Short History of Nearly Everything, What Every American Should Know About American History.
How about you?
Hi Ang,

Thanks for your thoughts on the CueCat. I am so new here, I was trying to search for the book titles by author/title, etc. Entering the ISBN makes things SO MUCH faster, that you're right, I can do without the CueCat.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for your help in getting started over here.

~ Jennifer
Hi Ang! How's it going? It's good to "see" you!
"Hi" right back at ya!
Love,
Christine
Hello! Just saw your post at the Sonlight forums. Dropping by here reminds me that I haven't updated in quite awhile. I noticed we've entered about the same number of books. I'm looking forward to exploring your reviews!
Hello again. I wonder if you have the :Cuecat scanner. If so, why? If not, why not? For only $15, it seems like a great deal. It would save a bunch of time on entering books, plus it just looks like fun. :o)
Yup--I'm a SLer. Brenda/Estel. :)
Oh - I'm too distracted. :o) I also wanted to comment on your internet access - 14 weeks is a long time without internet, but it certainly does help you see how much time it sucks up, am I right?

As for your move - my goodness! Chicago to England, eh? How long have you been there? How are you adjusting? Is it a big adjustment?

OK, enough questions. :o)

I remember reading your posts about paperbackswap.com, but haven't looked into it yet. I'll let you know if I have questions after checking it out.

We have three daughters and a son. Our oldest daughter is going to be 12 next month. Then we have 6 and 4 year old daughters, and a baby son who is 7 months.

This year we are doing Core 4 with the oldest (6th grade), Core K with dd6 (1st grade) and Core P4/5 with the 4 year old. Three cores sounds like a lot, but the oldest is very independent, Core K is a lot of fun, and Core P4/5 is a breeze - especially since we haven't added in any math or LA for her this year.
Hi Angie,

You can find the export options on our "Tools" page, here:

They're on the right hand side.

I hope this helps!

Ok, here are a few ideas...
The Translator-memoir by a tribesman in Darfur serving as a translator to news correspondants
Buster's Diaries-hilarious, written by "the dog of a Britain as he shares his viewpoint"
Early Bird-memoir by a guy who retires young and moves to a retirement village in Florida
Dear Exile-two friends letters between one in New York and the other with the Peace Corps in AFrica
The Gifted-Christian fiction about some co-workers who are given some special gifts so they can work together to save and help others, then what happens when they lose those gifts
Pig in a Taxi-devotionals about a missionary in AFrica with a funny story and prayer focus for each day
The Secret Between Us-a mom and daughter in a serious car accident, the mom takes the blame for the daughter and how it all plays out
The Wednesday Letters-a group of adult siblings as they clean our their deceased parents bed and breakfast and the box of letters they find in the process and the family secret that is revealed through them
The Wild Girl-historical fiction

If you look under my 2008 tag they are all under that.
Let me know what you've read lately.

HI Ang. Here I am. You are on my friends list and it looks like I'm on yours too. Blessings,
Christine
Hey, I see you are a member of Early Reviewers. Have you snagged any yet? If so, which ones?
Ang,
(A Day in the Life)-a good book and a fun read however I didn't finish it, I have so many books to read and just got bored with it before I finished it
(The English Patient)-I listened to this as an audiobook, if I'd had to read it I probably wouldn't have, it was ok but books on tape are always so much different than reading them too, this ones been around long enough you should be able to find a lot of reviews on it
(Up the Amazon)-another fun read, this guy shares his stories of travels all over the world, the book is broken into geographical sections, he doesn't do normal everyday things either but things like trying to eat a huge steak for a prize in Texas, and adventurous type stuff, I ended up scanning towards the end but had fun with it
I have not seen Hoot the movie.

Hey girl, nice to see you here! I wasn't surprised after entering my books to see how many we have in common. By looking at your list though, if I entered books read in the past(before I officcialy started keeping track) and books on my shelves to read, we would have many, many more in common.
Welcome to the Political Conservatives group. Thanks for joining!
Hi, I was checking out what 'Dorisreads' and I had in common because there were so many. Turns out they were all Philip Gulley and Jan Karon books. Saw your note about the cookbook. I bought the Christmas book that has a short story and the Orange Marmalade cake recipe in it. I made it and it was wonderful. The book is a very sweet and a nice short read, but if you don't want to purchase it, google 'Orange Marmalade Cake' and you can find it on the internet. The cake is a little time consuming, but well worth the effort--and very pretty too.
You asked me about Nancy Drew...I red them when I was a child, and now they belong to dd and she's read most of them. She still picks up one once in a while, but she's mostly in to more grown up stuff now. (where's the rolleyes smilie? :))
