About my libraryI use LibraryThang to keep track of what I have read (but not what I have in my bookshelf or wishlist). I'm a stickler-type person with a huge fetish for lists and catalogues of all flavours, so LT felt like a natural habitat for me right away. :)
What I list
Everything I've read - from cover to cover - since April '08 and everything I can recall having read before that, except non-classic children's and YA books.
What I wish I listed
At the moment I've set my sights on two types of books: world literature classics and gay interest stories (romance). Of one, there always seem to be too many still unread; the other, too few ...
On rating
I use the star ratings only on books that I've read since starting this account to make sure that my likings and dislikings are based on recent experiences. I try to save the very worst (0.5 stars) and best (5 stars) ratings for exceptionally horrible and exceptionally magnificent reads only.
Why I like to read
The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours.
