The old design is no longer fully supported nor does it get full attention when we roll out new features. We strongly recommend using the new design.

About meThe University of Dayton is again seeking recommendations for the First Year Read. This book will be used as part of New Student Orientation.

If you have any suggestions, please consider the following:

Main Criteria (the book should)
*Be engaging to students
*Be well written and intellectually stimulating
*Have a broad appeal across disciplines
*Encourage cross-cultural awareness/facilitate dialogue about diversity and differences

Book Guidelines
*Readable/Accessible to 18 year olds
*Available in paperback and/or under $20
*Readily available in stores and libraries
*Between 200-400 pages
*Not something most students would have had to read in high school

Other things to consider
*The FYR program should feature a diversity of authors and genres
*The book’s theme should provide possibilities for programming
*The book should be appropriate for classroom use – especially in first year courses.

Please take the opportunity to look at these books and provide your feedback. Copies of the books are on reserve at the Roesch Library Circulation Desk.
