About my libraryCombined library of a poli-sci undergrad now enrolled in library school (me) and a former active-duty Navy guy with a graduate degree in physics, who have a penchant for buying old houses that needs lots of work. So that explains the range of textbooks interspersed with home improvement manuals.

The first thing I ever spent my own money on was the book "Little Women," which I bought when I was 8 or 9 with some cash received as a birthday present. It seemed wickedly extravagent since I had already read it several times. With five kids in the family, we got our books free from book fairs or made do with the school library's offerings, but I hated returning it to the library and that was the beginning of using my discretionary income for book purchases. All my childhood favorites are still in my folks house and I keep meaning to reclaim them.
