About meI thank my father for my lifelong love of books. I love reading (and rereading) them, collecting them, the smell of old and new, the feel of the pages, and the myriad cover art. Beginning in the Carolinas, presently in Washington, I've had a myriad of interests including genetics; nutrition, both of humans and other animals; the cataloging and organization of collections, from books to biological specimens; the reading of fiction, viewing of movies, and playing of video games, especially in the fantasy genre; and discussing philosophy and the related issues of political systems, religions, morality, and ethics. I'm eager to take advantage of LibraryThing for my own library's organization, and for the ease of sharing my books when networking with others.

About my libraryAt present, my LibraryThing catalog accurately reflects the contents of my household library, though that may change to accommodate ratings and reviews of borrowed books in the future. My library contains both my own books (tagged VKN) and those of my partner (tagged YMP), due to the integrated nature of our library and our similar interests leading to one copy read by both. Though we each started with fairly large collections of our own, the size of our library is primarily related to our heavy use of "$0.50 paperback/$1 hardcover/$7 bag" sales in order to explore new authors and genres. I look forward to sharing information with others here in hopes that we may each discover new favorites.
