Hey there! Hmm this is weird, I could have sworn I replied to your last message (about your blog) o.O. Strange! I guess it didn't go through..sometimes my browser does that. Oh well.

So how was your new years? Hopefully well? Mine was decent..nothing too special..just hung out with a few friends.

Ohhh I also started my own blog too. http://tyrionfrost.wordpress.org. Still working on it, but it's going decently so far! I'll add you to my blogroll/links page :).

Talk to you soon :) -Joe
Happy new year!!
Hey there :D. I haven't heard from you for awhile, wanted to check in and see how everything is. So..how are you? :D lol. Everything well? Read anything new and interesting?

I myself have read a few good..a few bad. Right now reading a novel on faeries..apparently inspired by the journal of a reverend. It's interesting, to say the least.

Oh..and twilight mania has not calmed down over here...being in Port Angeles. Seems there's twilight around every corner..and the premier of the new movie was crazy here..and showing on three screens of out four screen theater downtown. Haha.

Anyway, talk to you soon!
ooooh! Sphinx's Princess looks sooooo good! btw i read Forest of Hands and Teeth.
Hi Emily

I'm way behind on the threads and just checked the Newbery one to find you send a message to me in June...I apologize for the delay in responding.

I just finished two disappointing Newbery Medal winners --- earlier this week I read M.C. Higgins the Great and then tonight I finished Caddie Woodlawn..
Yes I know. My email is messed up and the icons that show undr followers are differnt from my blog icon. So is the name and I have no clue why. I tried to fix it but for now I'm the wolf with the yellowish background. I don;t even think you can reach my blog by clicking on that.
Great. Did you by Other Side of the Island too? You have some good reading ahead of you!
yes. You are.
Off topic but I see you read Impossible. How did you like it?
I thought I was already a follower. I clicked the button that said follow. I'll look again though.
That's awesome Wilow! You must teach me!! I love reading, but I don't know how to give book reviews. :)
Hi Wilow! Just wanted to stop in and say hello :)
Hi Emily,

Thanks for coming by. I know of Belmont and have been to watch the horses a while back. My family is still of Long Island as while and I do get out to visit them on occasion.

I've always been interested in Teddy Roosevelt. I had started the Morris bio a while back and stopped because of time constraints. Its is excellent and also have Morris' second book "Theodore Rex" to look forward to. I enjoy planning other experiences that are connected to my reading. For example I read "Alaska" by Michener before taking a cruise to Alaska.

I have visited Sagamore Hill a long time past and thought on a visit this summer might be fun with all that fresh insight on TR's life in my mind from the reading...B-)

Also been to NH a couple of decades ago while living in Boston and loved it. Did you ever visit the Lighthouse at Montauk Point or the Vanderbilt mansions on the Island. I may visit the Walt Whitman house this summer too(not far from where I live) and I've never visited before.
I do that sometimes too. During the school year when I can't get through a book quickly enough I start reading more. but never SEVEN! Now that's skill! :D
The writing was nice. For me the book had a dream like state to it.
I will. And that's okay. I'm open to all sorts of books (i try to be) I might not like it but who knows.
Hey,
Just looking through your library and i saw that you read a certain slant of light. Did you like it? I loved it. I liked the way the author wrote and I liked the main character whose name I'm now forgetting. The female ghost.
Anyway,
just wanted to know.
Just saying Hi. Hope all is well :D. Have a good day.

-Joe
Yeah, you were right. I guess a lot of people haven't finished. I posted my thoughts though...hope there weren't any spoilers :)
Hi WilowRaven...just wondering if you all had changed the date of the discussion for the Group Read for Memory Keeper's Daughter? There really hasn't been comments lately. Hope you're doing great! Thanks :)

I get the cover images from borders.com, actually. :-D Just find the book in the search, go to the book's main page (for the largest size, the ones in the search results lists are always smaller) and right-click, yank the URL from 'properties,' and there you have it! I suppose one could save them and upload them to something like photobucket, buuuut.. that always seems a little too time-consuming. Also, I don't feel bad about stealing bandwidth from a site as huge as Borders.

And I work for them, so, yeah!

You could do the same thing with Amazon, but their pictures are usually too big. And they often have the 'Look inside!" thing over the picture, which you can't get rid of without editing the actual picture.

Hope this helps!
Ah yes, a book from the Port Angeles Library. I never thought about it..I guess that would be cool for a Twilight fan :P.

It's funny...ever since Twilight became huge, our town has been far more popular than before. It's like the book put us on the map or something. Our restaurant "Bella Itallia" .. which is where Bella and Edward have their first date in the book, is now bigger than ever. And of course, our towns taking advantage of the new-found popularity. There's things about Twilight written on the outside of the resaraunt.. a photo of Stephanie Meyer dining at it, etc, We even have a twilight store now! lol. So yeah, the Twilight craze is still huge here, and we're a rather small town.

..and forks. They have a Twilight tour which drives around to all of the places featured in the book. Strange, but kind of cool..since we're never mentioned in anything. Hah. :)

Anyway, I'll definitely tell you what I think once I read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel :). I'm looking forward to reading it..though I'm still working through a few things that are on the top of my "to read" pile. -Joe
Hey..glad you received your book! I was lucky enough to snag a copy of "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel" from bookmooch with my point. It's being sent now :). Looks like an odd book..haha..right up my alley.

Yes, I have my share of Wiccan/Pagan books, though not nearly as many as you I'm sure. I became interested in paganism awhile back, and have been studying various traditions for a few years..but in some ways I do consider myself to be Wiccan. It most closely matches my beliefs.

I do have a lot of Fantasy works..I've been drawn in to the genre so much lately. There's so many fantasy novels out there..and so little time :P.

Since you said you saw some interesting things in my library, I figured I'd suggest a few good Fantasy novels. Firstly, Stardust by Neil Gaiman (who's one of my favorite authors). It's a really great book..incredibly imaginative, reads like a fairy tale but is aimed at adults. I'd also suggest lud-in-the-mist by Hope Mirrlees, which is similar to Gaiman's style, but incredibly unique in it's own right. It was written back in the 1920's .. before Lord of the Rings, so it has that vintage/old language feel. It's a very amazing fantasy piece. I love it. Haha. If you like either of these, especially Gaiman I'd suggest one of Gaiman's other books..Neverwhere..which is also..awesome :D.

Aside from that, if you're looking for something a bit 'darker', I'd suggest "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George RR Martin. It's currently a 4 book saga, though has more on the way. George RR Martin is an amazing writer..and the whole series thus far has kept me entranced. It starts with "A Game of Thrones". It's very dark. It takes place in its own world, and there's some traditional fantasy elements (Dragons, for instance), though it's filled with realism, deep/complex characters, and so many plot twists I couldn't stop reading. Definitely amazing.

Anyway, I think I rambled :( hahaha. Again, thanks for the mooch. If you have any recommendations for me, feel free to share them :). I'm always looking for new things to read!

Hope you're having a good day as well. Yesterday was my Birthday..I'm 25. Ahh..old! Haha.
-Joe
LOL!

Been there, done that.....hey! WHERE'S my t-shirt????
PBS=Public Broadcasting Station

HEHHEHHEHHEHEHEHE HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't want to ask what you think when you see Book Mooch abbreviated!!

Just kidding!
A bit of the blurb from the book would be fine. :)
Mystery at Castle Steep sounds fun. What's the basic plot setup?

(Or even better, stick that in the Member description on its page)
