I myself have read a few good..a few bad. Right now reading a novel on faeries..apparently inspired by the journal of a reverend. It's interesting, to say the least.
Oh..and twilight mania has not calmed down over here...being in Port Angeles. Seems there's twilight around every corner..and the premier of the new movie was crazy here..and showing on three screens of out four screen theater downtown. Haha.
Anyway, talk to you soon!

I'm way behind on the threads and just checked the Newbery one to find you send a message to me in June...I apologize for the delay in responding.
I just finished two disappointing Newbery Medal winners --- earlier this week I read M.C. Higgins the Great and then tonight I finished Caddie Woodlawn..

Thanks for coming by. I know of Belmont and have been to watch the horses a while back. My family is still of Long Island as while and I do get out to visit them on occasion.
I've always been interested in Teddy Roosevelt. I had started the Morris bio a while back and stopped because of time constraints. Its is excellent and also have Morris' second book "Theodore Rex" to look forward to. I enjoy planning other experiences that are connected to my reading. For example I read "Alaska" by Michener before taking a cruise to Alaska.
I have visited Sagamore Hill a long time past and thought on a visit this summer might be fun with all that fresh insight on TR's life in my mind from the reading...B-)
Also been to NH a couple of decades ago while living in Boston and loved it. Did you ever visit the Lighthouse at Montauk Point or the Vanderbilt mansions on the Island. I may visit the Walt Whitman house this summer too(not far from where I live) and I've never visited before.

Just looking through your library and i saw that you read a certain slant of light. Did you like it? I loved it. I liked the way the author wrote and I liked the main character whose name I'm now forgetting. The female ghost.
Anyway,
just wanted to know.

And I work for them, so, yeah!
You could do the same thing with Amazon, but their pictures are usually too big. And they often have the 'Look inside!" thing over the picture, which you can't get rid of without editing the actual picture.
Hope this helps!

It's funny...ever since Twilight became huge, our town has been far more popular than before. It's like the book put us on the map or something. Our restaurant "Bella Itallia" .. which is where Bella and Edward have their first date in the book, is now bigger than ever. And of course, our towns taking advantage of the new-found popularity. There's things about Twilight written on the outside of the resaraunt.. a photo of Stephanie Meyer dining at it, etc, We even have a twilight store now! lol. So yeah, the Twilight craze is still huge here, and we're a rather small town.
..and forks. They have a Twilight tour which drives around to all of the places featured in the book. Strange, but kind of cool..since we're never mentioned in anything. Hah. :)
Anyway, I'll definitely tell you what I think once I read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel :). I'm looking forward to reading it..though I'm still working through a few things that are on the top of my "to read" pile. -Joe

Yes, I have my share of Wiccan/Pagan books, though not nearly as many as you I'm sure. I became interested in paganism awhile back, and have been studying various traditions for a few years..but in some ways I do consider myself to be Wiccan. It most closely matches my beliefs.
I do have a lot of Fantasy works..I've been drawn in to the genre so much lately. There's so many fantasy novels out there..and so little time :P.
Since you said you saw some interesting things in my library, I figured I'd suggest a few good Fantasy novels. Firstly, Stardust by Neil Gaiman (who's one of my favorite authors). It's a really great book..incredibly imaginative, reads like a fairy tale but is aimed at adults. I'd also suggest lud-in-the-mist by Hope Mirrlees, which is similar to Gaiman's style, but incredibly unique in it's own right. It was written back in the 1920's .. before Lord of the Rings, so it has that vintage/old language feel. It's a very amazing fantasy piece. I love it. Haha. If you like either of these, especially Gaiman I'd suggest one of Gaiman's other books..Neverwhere..which is also..awesome :D.
Aside from that, if you're looking for something a bit 'darker', I'd suggest "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George RR Martin. It's currently a 4 book saga, though has more on the way. George RR Martin is an amazing writer..and the whole series thus far has kept me entranced. It starts with "A Game of Thrones". It's very dark. It takes place in its own world, and there's some traditional fantasy elements (Dragons, for instance), though it's filled with realism, deep/complex characters, and so many plot twists I couldn't stop reading. Definitely amazing.
Anyway, I think I rambled :( hahaha. Again, thanks for the mooch. If you have any recommendations for me, feel free to share them :). I'm always looking for new things to read!
Hope you're having a good day as well. Yesterday was my Birthday..I'm 25. Ahh..old! Haha.
