About meLibrarian, lover of books and all things book-related.

About my libraryI mainly set this up as a way to keep track of which books were mine and which were my partner's when we moved into our new flat (mostly pretty easy, we have quite different tastes, but there is some crossover!). Then I realised I could also use it to keep track of what I was reading for uni, what books I'd borrowed from my mum (WoodsieMum's library is truly world class. I sometimes wonder why I bother buying books at all...), books I'd seen and wanted to read, books I'd forgotten I'd ever read but now wanted to read again... etc. Bit of a rambling collection, and it's getting bigger all the time!

Thanks so much for SantaThing books! I am really looking forward to reading them all!

I hope you got something cool from your Secret Santa!

Enjoy! I posted this on the SantaThing page:

dearkarla: Hi WoodsieGirl,

I hope you enjoy the novels I selected for you.

I chose The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon as it is one of my favourites and I noticed that you have no Michael Chabon in your library (now resolved!).

Never Let Me Go I selected for the same reason. This was a beautiful, dreamy read, if a little unsettling.

I read This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz recently, and was completely absorbed by how deeply intelligent Diaz is. Have Google translate handy (Spanish is littered throughout the book).

Me Talk Pretty One Day was chosen because Sedaris provides a quick and funny read. Read it after Never Let Me Go :)

What I was going to select, but didn't, and want to share anyway:

All That I Am by Anna Funder

Shantaram by Gregory Roberts

Freedom or The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen

The Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon (vol 1)

A Fraction of the Whole by Steve Tolz

Let me know what you think.

Happy holidays!

Just a quick note to say, The Blind Assassin arrived yesterday and was promoted to top of the TBR pile
Hi Woodsie

Just to let you know The Blind Assassin arrived this morning - I'm really excited not just about reading it but also about being a part of World Book Day and promise to pass it along once I've finished it to keep in the spirit. Oh and by the way, I love your profile pic :o)

Hi.....just wanted to let you know that the book you posted to me, "The Blind Assassin," arrived safely this morning. Many thanks and best wishes.
