I was wondering if you could give some recommendations on really good books about the history of the English language. I saw the one in your collection and it looks good but I want to make sure I have some good ones. I'm trying to prepare the ultimate present for my friend this year. She took a class called the History of English and it has been her favorite class in the history of classes. She's not afraid of a dense read so long as its fascinating and will hold her interest. She is an avid reader too. Her collection puts some public libraries to shame.
