About meI work and live in Austin, Texas. I studied biology and the brain at the University of Texas and still take a night class or two to keep sharp. My day gets spent poring over medical records and I spend my free time reading, studying, making music and enjoying life as much as possible.
About my libraryMy small apartment is sloshing at the rim with books and I am in dire need of a new shelf. I've got about 72 feet of books on shelves and a few spare feet in piles on side tables and instrument cases. I worked earnestly to build this collection over the past five or so years, but a few slipped through from my younger years. I found most of them used and have a hard time getting rid of books. Moving it several times has been a huge pain but at the end of the day its totally worth it. If my apartment burned down today I'd cry longest over the cat, but then definitely the books next.

Thanks for your note. I was also savoring your library since I enjoy reading science when I am not immersed in India-related material. I noticed Wendy Doniger's latest book on The Hindus in your collection. I saw it at the bookstore and it looked intriguing. Please let me know what you think of it. Also, given your cognitive neuroscience interest, I am sure you are familiar with the literature studying brain states of yogis and meditators. Would appreciate any recommendations you have in that area.

Like the you and the other commenter, i love being near books. Back in college, i worked in the rare book room and really enjoyed the huge folios full of nature scenes and intricately painted ancient books. i'd love to earn enough to be able to buy one or two.
