About meI'm a reader; a watcher; a drinker of coffee; a walker of dogs; a rider in cars; and an eater of food, among other things. And a writer: my series "Flora Segunda" is published by Harcourt Children's Books. I wouldn't be a writer if I hadn't been a reader first, and I wouldn't have been much of a reader without libraries. Huzzah for Library Thing--a tremendously cool idea!
About my libraryI love books--the older the better, tho' I'm super fond of vintage paperbacks. And many new books today have irresistibly gorgeous covers This is just a small selection of my library--I think I have about a thousand books all told. I usually go for old books rather than new books, and I particularly love weird bindings or old timey covers. But I have a lot of new stuff too, and once I have a book in my hot little hands, it's very hard for me to let it go. So I am always running low on bookshelves!
Which is why I got the Kindle, which I adore. I wouldn't want to read all the time on it, and I still buy real books, but for traveling and for instant gratification a Kindle can't be beat. Plus, it's fab for reading manuscripts on.

Suzanna (almost 13) and I (her mom) just finished Flora's Dare, after having enjoyed Flora Segunda two summers ago. Suzanna says to tell you "Awesome, awesome, awesome!"
Thank you for 2 wonderful books, great architecture, and some really wonderful meditations on gender roles, heroes, and parenting. Looking so forward to more!

I loved Flora Segunda! It was so smart and funny and inventive and madcap. I'm dying to know what happens next, and especially about the mysterious histories of Hotspur and the First Flora.
