About meThe longest I've ever gone without chocolate is two days.
I once cried for half an hour after accidentally standing on a moth and squashing it.
I have twenty-four notebooks hidden in my desk, waiting to be written in, and I still can't stop buying new ones.
My favourite flower is the daffodil.
If I'm ever reborn, I'd like to come back as a willow tree (in a nature reserve).
I can't ride a bike, and I never could.
I don't have any fillings in my teeth. Not a single one.
When I was little, I was convinced that wolves lived under my bed.
I hate bananas.
I think that one of my cats understands English.

Brilliant novel. I really enjoyed reading it.
I had a similar reaction to Magic Study - plus the character seemed to be turning into a bit of a Mary-Sue....I did like it enough to want to read the third instalment Fire Study though - I'm hoping the middle book was just a dip in the curve!

I'm mostly re-reading old favourites at the moment as I'm having problems with my contract at work, but I have read some new stuff - mostly urban fantasy (seem to need some vicarious blood-letting in my fiction...wonder why?)- authors are Ilona Andrews, Karen Chance, Carrie Vaughn and Rachel Caine. All worth a look if you need some new fiction.

No, I was serious about thinking I had rated TSK at 3.5. I'm not a big fan of first person narratives, but I still liked the book well enough to rate it in the middle of my range. 1 is not equivalent to "loathe it" in my range anyway, as if I hated it I wouldn't bother to catalog it in the first place. 1 is more like "OK- read again sometime", while 5 is "excellent - recommend to like minded readers".
Let the light of late afternoon
shine through chinks in the barn, moving
up the bales as the sun moves down.

Let the cricket take up chafing
as a woman takes up her needles
and her yarn. Let evening come.

Let dew collect on the hoe abandoned
in long grass. Let the stars appear
and the moon disclose her silver horn.

Let the fox go back to its sandy den.
Let the wind die down. Let the shed
go black inside. Let evening come.

To the bottle in the ditch, to the scoop
in the oats, to air in the lung
let evening come.

Let it come, as it will, and don’t
be afraid. God does not leave us
comfortless, so let evening come.

–Jane Kenyon

Yep, it's me. Thought it would be simpler to keep the same name on both applications. How are you? Haven't "seen" you on ABE lately...too busy with the next book?
