Groups50 Book Challenge, Book Nudgers, I use LibraryThing as a book journal., Spaniards who LibraryThing

About meI devoured books as a teen. Then I stopped. And now I'm back in the reading business. I am Spanish and a sucker for English.

About my libraryI use my LT library as a journal for recording what I've been reading through time. I always sort it by descending "start date, end date", so that what I'm reading at the moment is on top, and the stuff I have around available to pick up is at the end (though, since this has been growing lately, I also add it to the “Pile to pick from” collection). I'm surprised so few people seem to record start and end dates for their own libraries.

I always have the feeling that I'm building my library (and perhaps true to the internet era) rather randomly. We'll see where that takes me, if anywhere.

The “Your library” collection records everything I've bought or read after I joined LT; these are further classified into “Owned books” and “Read books” as appropriate.

“Life before LT” is a collection for historic purposes, and one I was quite unsure of creating because parts of it make me blush. Anyway, I have detailed records of all that I read between 1997 and 2003, and I imported that into this collection. I also import, as I recall them, random books I know to have read between 2003 and 2008.

About my ratings, they are more than subjective, and do not make any concessions to the objective quality of the work. They say how much I've enjoyed the reading, and how worthy of my time it's been.

3 stars is the baseline for anything that doesn't disgust me, and that I decided it was okay finishing and don't regret having read, but “so-so” at the same time. Anything above that is a positive note, everything below I found unpleasant for some reason (it seems I have a really hard time giving something less than 3 stars, so I think ratings are not as calibrated as they should be).
