About meAn undergraduate and generalist from Penang, Malaysia but is currently studying in Singapore.
About my libraryI became (intensely) interested in 'library science' when I was ten years old, when I first stepped into my primary school's library. I already had about fifty books back then, financed by my very modest savings of pocket money (my parents did not support my buying such 'useless' books as Chinese classics). I 'cataloged' the books (if it could be deemed as such) and made card pockets out of calendar papers. Lending of book soon started, however due to my naivety a quarter of my collections, amounted to no less than 30 books then, had been lost and unable to be recovered since. What a misfortune to me... But nevertheless, the collection kept growing, and a few years later all the lost books have been made good.
I left Penang for a course of study in Singapore, and my collection had to be split into two. Initially most of my books remained in Penang, but due to my hoarding in Singapore, the proportion has gradually shifted to Singapore's favor. Not long ago, due to some circumstances which I deem have endangered the safety (even the existence) of my books, I had to move all of them to Singapore, weighing 60+kgs, which to me was not an easy task. Since I live in university residences (i.e. hostels), which requires me to move in and out every semester, my greatest challenge now is to maintain my collections in a reasonably safe condition, yet mobile enough. And I would certainly need to battle between the funding of books and savings, a prerequisite for book purchase and investing, respectively...
