About meI'm a spinster lady who has lived in the Puget sound area for 17 years. I'm on disability with rheumatoid arthritis and up until Feb. 24, 2009 I was also employed at Seattle Veterinary Specialists, which despite its name, is across the water in Kirkland. Yes, that's right, I was laid off on my birthday. So now I'm job-hunting again. My hobbies include cooking, baking, books, cats and mineral hot springs. I also volunteer for the curator of arachnids at the Burke Museum of Natural History. I also have started volunteering for the Friends of the Seattle Library book sale . I have four cats, two planned and two unplanned. My top cat is Maggie. I also have Malcolm, Proctor and Sally. I never used to be a cat lover and would not have pictured myself working in the veterinary industry, but life takes strange turns.
About my libraryI don't have a computer at home and rely on the library, internet cafes and work (off the clock, of course). I can check e-mail on my cell phone but it's not practical for visiting web sites. For that reason, a lot of my books aren't registered on librarything. Somewhat more are registered on bookcrossing.com, but some of those have been released once I've read them. I like contemporary fiction, true crime, memoirs and self-help to name a few. One thing I have a lot of is cookbooks but I never register them. But I'm happy to discuss them. People who have read a lot of Margaret Atwood will recognize both my librarything and bookcrossing screen names.

Just wanted to say hello. I found you in the Political Conservatives group. I live on the East Coast but we have at least three things in common....we're political conservatives, we love cats and we like to cook. I know nothing about Puget Sound except that it was the setting for Ya Ya Sisterhood. Did you read that? Maggie is a pretty one. We have two cats right now....Mickey and Minnie. They are a pair, all right. One came from the SPCA; the other we found licking the grease at the bottom of our grill outside, started feeding her for about a month, and the rest, as they say, is history. I LOVE my cats! I wouldn't want to live without them! lol What is your favorite cookbook?? Lately, I cook a lot from Cooking Light.
WEll, nice to meet you. Hope to hear from you on LT.

Thanks for accepting my friends invite. I like your library, and your 'about me' section spoke to me. Although I don't have any cats at the moment, I lived with two for quite some time and miss their companionship. I'm sure they keep good company with you while you are home during the day!
Have a nice weekend,
Michelle
