About meMy name's Allie, I'm 22, and I just recently graduated with a B.S. in Computer & Information Science. As can be seen from my collection, programming books are in the minority. That's because I don't really like software development anymore. (Never did, really.) Consequently, I am planning a career change, turning my back on coding and looking forward to library-ing.

Currently, I am enrolled in Master's of Library & Information Science program. I've also been working and interning in an academic library since January 2008. I love the field of librarianship. I'm incredibly fortunate to have found my niche. (I finally fit in at work!)

My passion for reading was instilled in me a long time ago, when my mother taught me to read at age 3. She also read to me (and my younger sister) incessantly. I can only hope I will be as good a parent. (The relationship I share with my mother is a rarity, from what I understand. Not only do I admire her but I consider her to be my best friend.)

About my libraryI use LibraryThing to document the books I read, not just the ones I own. (Most of the books listed currently reside on my bookshelves. Others, though, were borrowed from libraries.)

Hi there,

I was looking at some of your past reviews and books on your shelf and I thought you would be interested to know that there’s a new book by Vikas Swarup the author of Slumdog Millionaire called Six Suspects out today. In fact Minotaur Books is giving away free signed copies! http://us.macmillan.com/smp/promo/sixsus...

They even have a Q&A with Vikas Swarup--- http://us.macmillan.com/sixsuspects
and you can meet the “suspects” in the story. It has gotten great reviews and promises to be a thrilling summer read.

Enjoy!
Noticed you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark (like Trainspotting). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:
