Noticed you liked Girl Interrupted, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a disturbed young girl's mental illness and also a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

I found Escape Attempt cheap on Abe Books and will certainly order it soon, thanks! I did complain about the previous two books being underdeveloped, but maybe since these are shorter they'll be more focused stories... fingers crossed. Even if not, they are still very good books, just not "greats" that I think they could have been. I am so picky. :[
> Actually, Jehovah Resigns is only on my wishlist (I thought I had it tagged as such, sorry if my library is a tad unclear). Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck finding a copy yet.

No, your tags were clear-- it was my attention that was deficient.

I am always curious when I see someone has listed it-- there are only three of us so far. Did you learn of it on LibraryThing? It is a very curious book. Worth the effort, despite uneven-ness, but it takes re-reading.
O.K., I have to ask: How did you come across Jehovah Resigns?

I know I'm super late with figuring this out, but I know how to do half-stars now! Just click a star twice and it will turn to a half-star. Hooray!

Too bad I already started converting my library to all full-stars. :(
That's lame. I can't figure it out either. 5 ranks are not enough!
Wow, we now show up on each other's similar libraries section, if only because all the books on your wishlist are already in my library. If I wanted to, I could interpret this to mean you wish to be more like me.

But I won't interpret it that way.
I think you may be right: The Ark Sakura, while not my favorite Abe book, was certainly the most interesting and bizarre! Seriously, for 91 pages of a 336 page book (over 1/4 of the book), the protagonist was stuck in a toilet. If that doesn't make you want to read it, nothing will.
I started a long time ago, but it is the slowest of all his novels, and school interrupted it. I was hoping to finish that and Midnight's Children this week, but all I got done so far was The White Castle. Sigh... Plans.

I think the best back-cover synopsis is for The Secret Rendezvous. That was certainly the book with the best opening of his. Talk about absurd.
There was a book signing at my local Barnes and Noble (I believe his niece works there); that accounts for four of 'em. As for the fifth, I bought it at the library for 50 cents and only noticed that it was autographed when I started to read it. :P
How did your friend Alex get so many Bradbury signatures? :(

This is a reminder, in case you forget: read God Emperor of Dune. I assure you, it is better than the other sequels. At the very least, you cannot argue that Herbert is doing something different in this novel than his others.

Also, I will read Hard to Be a God when you read Inter Ice Age. It's like a deal, except neither of us benefits from the other's actions. Maybe it's a pact? Ok, it's a pact.

Also, also, welcome to Librarything!
