About meI read too much. And I take too many pictures. And I listen to music almost constantly [except for when I'm reading]. And I'm excellent at writing first-person declarative sentences.
When I'm not reading, I'm probably playing with my puppy, a sweet little German Shepherd. Or maybe I'm watching a hockey game or playing video games [I'm a diehard Nintendo kind of girl]. But what I should be doing is running, because I'm supposed to be training for my first marathon. Or, if not running, then I should be studying for my broker's exam, because work is important: it enables me to buy books and dog toys.
One of my main goals in life is to open a bakery and live happily ever after.
-----
In 2009 I'm going to try something new, as my TBR pile is huge and threatening to take over the world: I've pledged not to purchase a single book for myself. And for every book that I do read, I'm going to put $5 aside. At the end of the year, I'm going to make donations to two groups:
-- the Canine Genetics Research group at Texas A&M University to support their EPI research in honor of my previous pup, an EPI girl, and
-- the Animal Care and Assistance Fund, a new, non-profit extension of the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, a practice that took outstanding care of my girl when she was diagnosed with high-grade canine lymphoma.
I've started a new website, http://www.outsideadog.com/, to keep me on task and accept recommendations for new things to read. Come visit!
-----
I'm also trying to read at least 75 books this year [in 2008, I managed 87, hooray!] -- my 'keep track of things' thread is here.
About my libraryI tend to catalogue everything I read, whether I've borrowed it or bought it. I don't delete books from my library once I've sent them along to homes that will enjoy them more than I have, because I know that one day I'm going to drive myself crazy trying to remember that book I read that time about that person, and the cover had that thing on it....
Lately I've taken to also including books that I intend to read. It's a better system than my current one, which is simply scraps of paper with scribbles on them.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I understand how difficult that can be. Years ago I lost my 17 year old dog and I still miss her greatly. Her name was Whisper, thus the name on my thread of Whisper1 (Whisper was #1.)
BIG hug sto you.

I'm sure you will have many great books coming your way since you are so thoughtful. I'm sending you a friend request, by the way.
I have a bunch of books I need to read this month, hope to read the "Well" book soon. I'm curious to see if Jasper Fforde ever gives Thursday Next her husband back!!

Thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries list.
In "About me" above, you wrote: I read too much. By what standard do you judge that? If I read 100 books in 2009 would that be too much? Or perhaps 125 would be too much? What about 75? Is that an acceptable number. Or do you mean that, like most of us on LT, you read a lot!:)

My friend brought me Crest Citrus Splash but anything fruity would be fine, as long as there is absolutely no suggestion of mint, I cannot bear it!! I really really appreciate this, I used to have a friend (when I was about 13) who lived on an airbase over here and supplied me with Lucky Charms. Since then, I have craved them with avengence but to get one box here costs about £7 from a specialist internet place (I guess thats about $10/11??) so can't indulge!!
Let me know when you need my address, or if you change your mind cos its too expensive or something. And please let me know if there is anything I can send in return.
Thanks again,
Luna

Are you still interested in offering this book?

I would love to get started down the path of "book buddies" as they are hard to come by in real life! So I'll go out on a leap of faith and email you my address :)
If you see anything in my library that I've reviewed which you might like, just drop me a line. Thanks,
Andrea

That would be great! However, as a newbie to LT, I do not yet know any of the "protocols" for this sort of thing. I'm tring to figure things out, but I keep getting distracted by the great book reviews, lol.
So please tell me what, if anything, I need to do on my end. Do you send it COD? Thank you for the kind offer!

Thank you so much for the Santa Thing books. Perfect choices and I haven't read any of them! in fact, I'd been thinking recently that I should try the Gunslinger series because it's one of the few King stories I haven't gotten into.
Hope you had a great holiday and Happy New Year!!!

I'll probably have to delay them for two to three weeks because of my high volume of mooches. I hope you don't mind.
And of course, since it's a 2 for 1, I'll charity half your points back.

It can be hard to feed a habit like that eh? On days I am off I read at least a book a day.
Now that school is back in session, that total drops a lot, since I also spend time online when I get home,
and that cuts into reading time. My internet connection is second to my reading, but only just.
I send books to my daughter when I am finished, just a few at a time. She likes to read but if she has a dozen
on her TBR pile she threatens to refuse the package.. LOL
Some books I send to my sons. They all read mostly within certain genre, while I read them all! :)
Unfortunately all of my kids live out of state. I miss them.

If you've never done an angel mooch, when you mooch it, you'll see in the condition notes that it's reserved for you and the title and condition. It'll show up on your pending as Angel Book #2, but the condition notes are right there telling you what it really is.
Enjoy!

I want you to know that you made my day. My week! I just mooched those books yesterday..
I know that you were going on vacation, but you took time to package the books, mail them, and include
a lovely card. They arrived overnight... due to your sending them priority mail. I am utterly blown away.
Thank you so very much, you are just wonderful!
hugs
