About meI read too much. And I take too many pictures. And I listen to music almost constantly [except for when I'm reading]. And I'm excellent at writing first-person declarative sentences.

When I'm not reading, I'm probably playing with my puppy, a sweet little German Shepherd. Or maybe I'm watching a hockey game or playing video games [I'm a diehard Nintendo kind of girl]. But what I should be doing is running, because I'm supposed to be training for my first marathon. Or, if not running, then I should be studying for my broker's exam, because work is important: it enables me to buy books and dog toys.

One of my main goals in life is to open a bakery and live happily ever after.

-----

In 2009 I'm going to try something new, as my TBR pile is huge and threatening to take over the world: I've pledged not to purchase a single book for myself. And for every book that I do read, I'm going to put $5 aside. At the end of the year, I'm going to make donations to two groups:

-- the Canine Genetics Research group at Texas A&M University to support their EPI research in honor of my previous pup, an EPI girl, and

-- the Animal Care and Assistance Fund, a new, non-profit extension of the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, a practice that took outstanding care of my girl when she was diagnosed with high-grade canine lymphoma.

I've started a new website, http://www.outsideadog.com/, to keep me on task and accept recommendations for new things to read. Come visit!

-----

I'm also trying to read at least 75 books this year [in 2008, I managed 87, hooray!] -- my 'keep track of things' thread is here.

About my libraryI tend to catalogue everything I read, whether I've borrowed it or bought it. I don't delete books from my library once I've sent them along to homes that will enjoy them more than I have, because I know that one day I'm going to drive myself crazy trying to remember that book I read that time about that person, and the cover had that thing on it....

Lately I've taken to also including books that I intend to read. It's a better system than my current one, which is simply scraps of paper with scribbles on them.

Amy
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I understand how difficult that can be. Years ago I lost my 17 year old dog and I still miss her greatly. Her name was Whisper, thus the name on my thread of Whisper1 (Whisper was #1.)

BIG hug sto you.

You are very welcome. I hope you are well.

Nice to hear from you.

Life... I understand -- Hope it eases up! You must be going through serious withdrawal! xox
Hope you and Puppy are doing better.
Got folks concerned here m'dear.
Amy

I'm simply stopping by to say hello and ask how you are.

Take care,
Linda
Haven't see you around lately. Hope all is good in your corner of the world :)
Ooooooh thank you so much for requesting the book for me - you're a star! Gorgeous, gorgeous dog too! x
Thanks so much for agreeing to angel the book. Jenn's still pretty new to BM and was having pretty excited when this book came available!
Thanks, Amy! I really appreciate your mooching this book for me.

It will be just in time for our April meeting (I read fast!)

Karen
Oh, that's SO incredibly sweet of you! I appreciate it! I did manage to get "Well of Lost Plots" from paperbackswap.com, so I have it already...
I'm sure you will have many great books coming your way since you are so thoughtful. I'm sending you a friend request, by the way.
I have a bunch of books I need to read this month, hope to read the "Well" book soon. I'm curious to see if Jasper Fforde ever gives Thursday Next her husband back!!
Angela
Thank you so so so much for the package, it arrived today. The toothpaste will keep me going for ages, it will have to be seen how long the cereal lasts! I really really appreciate it. Let me know if there is anything I can send in return.

Again, many thanks.
thanks Amy
coming your way!
Wow, that was speedy! Thank you very much, I shall mooch them straight away.
Aiee!! LT seems to have gone through a patch in late Jan of not emailing me my profile comments so I missed your note about Remainder... pah. Oh well, I have too many books anyway.
Thank you so much!
Amy
Many thanks! I received the book today. Please do let me know if there is something I can pass along to you. Thanks again for your kindness!

Linda
Thanks so much! My bookmooch ID is 'lost'.
Hello, I was wondering if your copy of Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris is still available?
Hello there. I must say that I am impressed by your effort to turn what is essentially a form of self-indulgence into a relatively painless way to contribute to a cause you believe in. It is an excellent idea. Thank you for your welcome to the 75 book challenge.
Hello Amy,

Thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries list.

In "About me" above, you wrote: I read too much. By what standard do you judge that? If I read 100 books in 2009 would that be too much? Or perhaps 125 would be too much? What about 75? Is that an acceptable number. Or do you mean that, like most of us on LT, you read a lot!:)

- TT
Hi, thanks for your message! I'm not in a hurry for the books, so please do wait until all three have arrived before sending them. Thanks again for mooching them on my behalf!

Lindsay
Hey, thanks for marking my library as an interesting one!!! We're all happy you added the 75'ers to your groups!! Look forward to tripping through your library; it looks like we share quite a few titles.

That's a good lookin' pooch!
Thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries list. I am both deeply honored and flattered.

Stasia, aka AlcottAcre
awww, thank you so much

My friend brought me Crest Citrus Splash but anything fruity would be fine, as long as there is absolutely no suggestion of mint, I cannot bear it!! I really really appreciate this, I used to have a friend (when I was about 13) who lived on an airbase over here and supplied me with Lucky Charms. Since then, I have craved them with avengence but to get one box here costs about £7 from a specialist internet place (I guess thats about $10/11??) so can't indulge!!

Let me know when you need my address, or if you change your mind cos its too expensive or something. And please let me know if there is anything I can send in return.

Thanks again,

Luna
I like your donation plan -- very cool. I grew up in College Station where Dad was a prof teaching those Aggie vets-to-be. We didn't have much in the way of funds and going to the experimental vet stations was one of our regular pasttimes :)
I'm not sure who's cuter -- you or your dog! What a great duo :)

Thx for adding me to your interesting libraries :)
Amy,

Boo hoo.... I guess I can live with it for awhile. :)

Thanks for your quick response; really appreciate it!!

All the best,
Irene
I received a Mooch offer on The Piano Teacher, but when I accepted, the message was that there were no copies.

It was your account which I tracked here.

Are you still interested in offering this book?

Thanks,
Irene Yeates
Amy,
I would love to get started down the path of "book buddies" as they are hard to come by in real life! So I'll go out on a leap of faith and email you my address :)

If you see anything in my library that I've reviewed which you might like, just drop me a line. Thanks,
Andrea
Amy,
That would be great! However, as a newbie to LT, I do not yet know any of the "protocols" for this sort of thing. I'm tring to figure things out, but I keep getting distracted by the great book reviews, lol.

So please tell me what, if anything, I need to do on my end. Do you send it COD? Thank you for the kind offer!

Andrea
Hi Amy,

Thank you so much for the Santa Thing books. Perfect choices and I haven't read any of them! in fact, I'd been thinking recently that I should try the Gunslinger series because it's one of the few King stories I haven't gotten into.

Hope you had a great holiday and Happy New Year!!!

Tracy O'Brien
Welcome to the 2009 75 Books Challenge group. Thanks for joining in!
Consider them yours:

I'll probably have to delay them for two to three weeks because of my high volume of mooches. I hope you don't mind.

And of course, since it's a 2 for 1, I'll charity half your points back.
my e-mail is valkyrie25@msn.com thanks so much! I'll be glad to reciprocate anyone if I can at some point.
Ha! Don't worry, I won't hold you responsible for my enjoyment of it! But that's a common occurrence with me -- the books I put up for adoption on BookMooch are the ones I didn't love so much that I had to keep them, so I feel a little shady pushing them onto some unsuspecting soul! Then again, I think we all know what we're getting into.
Thanks so much! This book has gotten such good reviews and looks so intriguing. I will look forward to sneaking off to read this during the holiday chaos!
I would very much like "And Then We Came To The End" if it's still available!
Thanks for adding BannedBooksLibrary to your Interesting Libraries, Amy. Happy Reading!
Sadly, yes.. It looks as if we read at a similar pace. FAST!

It can be hard to feed a habit like that eh? On days I am off I read at least a book a day.
Now that school is back in session, that total drops a lot, since I also spend time online when I get home,
and that cuts into reading time. My internet connection is second to my reading, but only just.

I send books to my daughter when I am finished, just a few at a time. She likes to read but if she has a dozen
on her TBR pile she threatens to refuse the package.. LOL

Some books I send to my sons. They all read mostly within certain genre, while I read them all! :)
Unfortunately all of my kids live out of state. I miss them.

kath

Sure, Lucky is yours! I don't like to do 'reserved for' listings, because I don't like to wave books in front of people who can't have them. So I set it up as an angel mooch reserved for you.
It's here:
http://www.bookmooch.com/detail/BM1195218131412032101

If you've never done an angel mooch, when you mooch it, you'll see in the condition notes that it's reserved for you and the title and condition. It'll show up on your pending as Angel Book #2, but the condition notes are right there telling you what it really is.

Enjoy!
I totally loved them, especially Wednesday sisters. So so good!
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be part of a group like that?

Again, thank you so much. You are very sweet!

Amy

I want you to know that you made my day. My week! I just mooched those books yesterday..
I know that you were going on vacation, but you took time to package the books, mail them, and include
a lovely card. They arrived overnight... due to your sending them priority mail. I am utterly blown away.

Thank you so very much, you are just wonderful!

hugs
kath
I would love to have the Wednesday sisters.. I will look for it on mooch thank you so much! :)
Would you reserve Picture Perfect for me?
Hello. The title is 'For Alynnk'. Enjoy!!

http://bookmooch.com/m/inventory/budrfly9
Wow! That would be really cool! I haven't seen a Teahouse fire come up on BM or PBS for over a month. Last time it came up on BM, I didn't have any points, and by the time I put in a few more books to make a point, someone had already mooched it away. I'll have to sit and have an "Asian reading" week; I have Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Wid Swans, and The Joy Luck Club. That would be really cool. (I plan to do that with Austen's books, as well)
Omigosh!I think I love you! Ok, maybe that's a bit strong, but thank you so, so much for the offer, I would really appreciate that:-) Lemme know when you are don and I will private you my mailing address. You just made my day!
-Jo
Wanted to let you know I got the book today. Thanks so much! I'll pass it along to another ER board member when I'm done.
