About meAmy Madden resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her three children. In 1981, Amy received her travel consultant certification and worked in the travel industry as a manager and teacher of travel and tourism for nearly eight years. She is currently working as a travel writer for one of the top travel management companies in the world, with extensive experience, writing more than 35 travel industry and destination feature articles a month. She has traveled to many countries and lived abroad in Spain for eight years. During her time in Spain she worked as an active board member of the Parents Council at Runnymede College where her children attended school, heading up numerous fund-raising events and other activities. Prior to living in Spain, Amy and her family lived in Atlanta, Georgia where she was, and still is, an accomplished chef, and ran her own catering and dessert business. She supplied desserts to five Atlanta area restaurants and catered private parties and corporate events for clients such as the Atlanta Bar Association. Her cooking skills have led her to writing a cookbook for college students that was published in July 2007 called, Look, Dude, I Can Cook!
When Amy returned from Spain she began volunteering at a local shelter for abused children. There she offered assistance by helping the children with homework, feeding them and reading to them. She also organized playtime and helped with holiday activities for the kids. During the short time Amy worked at the shelter she was inspired by the children; it was their vulnerability yet resilience to survive and their capability to forgive that propelled her forward on her own journey toward forgiveness. It’s what helped her to complete Stolen Beauty, which took her nearly seven years to finish. Amy felt compelled to share her own story with the hope that it could somehow help children and adult survivors move beyond the pain of their experiences into a new realm of living joyously. Her story reveals her belief that every child matters and any child or adult survivor of abuse can triumph over their bad experiences. Amy believes through spiritual enlightening, love of self and forgiveness, one’s own personal journey can be a renewal of the human spirit.
Currently Amy is working on numerous book projects, including more cookbooks.
