About meAn English instructor. A writer. A reader. I can't imagine what my house would look like if I didn't use the library.

About my libraryThere's a lotta crap, a lotta my husband's cooking books, and a lotta poetry. I can't help it. I seem to collect all three.

Hi,

Saw you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Chris
I'm writing because I noticed you have a book by Andrew Dornenburg in your library. I wanted to let you know that he'll be on LibraryThing for a few weeks (until December 5th), participating in an Author Chat. So stop on by and ask Andrew a question:

Thanks for the kind words about Acts of Revision.
Hi Amy ,
just wondering what graphic you did choose for a tatoo from the only book we share.
Nice to "meet" you ... I visited your site. Have you thought about blogging on Facebook.com?
Another Raymond Carver fan. I particularly loved his poetry.

-R
wow -- we share an odd assortment of books. It's good to see more bibliophiles in pittsburgh!
I saw that we share an interest in poetry. I thought you might get a kick out of my book Anarchy Bell. It's unlike any poetry book you've ever read, I can guarantee it. It's viewable at Suburban Fiction.com
Yes, you are. We share 27 books!
Hi! Thanks for the comment of February 5th on Colors of a Different Horse. I am half through my course, and I am in complete agreement with your assessment. This first class was
a test, and I think I am going to go through to the MFA. I
wonder how many double MA English/MFA people there are out here!
So many of the articles mention the conflict between creative
writers and lit people. Frankly, I have never seen it.

Best of luck, and thanks again.

how are you feeling? really, i'm asking out of concern for your well-being, not desire for the cue cat! haha
hey, feeling better? did you make it to the workshop this morning? the reading was good. the turkish place was great, little whole in the wall, but great food and service, plus free tea! hope you feel better,

sarah
hey, hope you feel better soon! did you get my e-mail about the turkish restaurant? if you're not feeling up to it, i understand, but i'm going with some amerifriends to the turkish grill on craig st if you want to come.
later,

congrats, that is a milestone :) don't forget to lend me your cuecat when you get back and then maybe i'll have as many as you (haha probably not yet! but i can aspire!) when r u back from awp? you should have a spring break party!
Yay! I'm at AWP in Atlanta, and I just hit 1000 books in my library! WOO HOO!
Hi, I found you through your review of The Stand, one of my all time favorites. I just finished The Road, and probably need therapy, but I'm glad I read it - it made me want to reread the Stand. I love your library, now I have even more books on my wish list... I see you enjoy short stories, have you ever read Charles Baxter? First Light was a revelation. Or Kim Edwards, Secrets of a Fire King? Spring, Mountain, Sea is the most beautiful, bittersweet short story. Nice to meet you, sorry to babble to a complete stranger - books do that to me. Happy Reading,
Mel
SNOWWWW!! MY MORTAL ENEMY! CURSES!!! FOILED YET AGAIN!!!
This is just to say, classes are cancelled tonight due to bad weather. Ergo, no cuecat.
i went to barnes & noble. i bought a book of poetry. i went to caliban's used books. i bought four used books. books are my weakness, my vice, but now i need that cuecat more than ever. hahaha. how was that for a desperate plea? sorry i didn't make it to the reading tonite...i am way behind in schoolwork between my full time americorps gig, my full time school, and my new part time job, so i was trying to catch up. don't ask how behind i am in the cleaning and laundry. things have to be prioritized, and until i run out of clothes or floor space, those are on the bottom. lol. did you sign up for the fiction workshop at the gist st reading?
Hi! You an I are the only one with Colors of a Different Horse, and you gave it only two stars. I just registered for an on-line Creative writing Pedagogy class, and I was wondering about your thoughts on this text. Have you used it as an instructor or as a student? I am also an English instructor, and I thought this class would be helpful. I have an MA in Lit, but I am doing more writing, so I am adding an MFA in Creative Writing.

i went (but i just rode the bus). the fiction writer and the poet were both very good. i thought the short story was frickin hillarious. i will tell you more about what i thought about the poet's reading in person, but his poems were very good and very powerful, so it should be a good workshop tomorrow. i spent some time talking to who turned out to be the owner of the studio getting him to burn me some cds and about random stuff. lol. see you in the morning. i have something for you...or your cats...or both...don't get too excited, the only place i've been shopping in a while is good will :)
woohoo! you rock! are you going to the reading tonight to, or only the workshop in the morning. i'm going to try to be at both if my health cooperates grrr.

~sarah
are you kidding me? i will love you forever if you let me borrow your cue cat! is it odd how excited I am about this? this site is a very good idea!
~sarah
hi amy, i just joined...it may take some time to input all of my books, though!
~sarah
hi Amy,

Crystalee told me you had a collection here. I see we share The College Handbook of Creative Writing by Robert DePalma. What do you think of it? I have actually planned out an entire creative writing course using that book that I would like to use someday.
Hi Amy. Nice to see a familiar face here. :-)
