About meI am a bank clerk living in Stockton on Tees, which is in the North East of England. I have two kids, 20 & 21, and I'm married. Most of all I love reading, and have very happy memories of being caught up in a great story from a very young age. I read mostly recently published fiction, especially from favourite authors such as Margaret Forster, Margaret Atwood, Pat Barker, Lesley Glaistor, Sue Gee. I have also recently discovered a writer from my home town, Marion Husband, and I love her work, espeically her latest Say You Love Me.

About my libraryLots of Penguins from the likes of Virginia Woolf and George Orwell, who is probably my favourite writer of all time. However, I only keep books that I know I am going to read again.

Hi Anne

I just noticed Sue Gee among your favourite authors and thought I'd say hello as I have recently read "The Mysteries of Glass" which I thought was beautifully written. Do you have any other favourites of hers? I have only read one other one which was "The Last Guests of the Season" which seemed a bit lightweight in comparison.
Hi Anne

Just thought I'd say 'Hi' as I've just posted on a thread about people from the UK and we're almost neighbours (well 'ish'). I live in County Durham so we ain't that far away!
Hi Anne, I noticed in a post that you used ( ) for your books and authors. Try the [ ] and that will highlight them and turn them into touchstones, at least when the touchstones are working!

Happy LTing

Hi Anne , Ive just joined . If you're interested in local authors a friend of mine Neil Griffin has written a book Martha s Vineyard which is available at www.lulu.com which might interest you. I loved it ; I know I might be biased as he's a friend though ! I'm just reading Margaret Forster myself now for the first time having just discovered her , and love many of the other authors you mention . Best wishes

Hi, I enjoyed Property but have not been able to get through Mary Reilly.
Hi! And how nice to find another admirer of Lesley Glaister - a much under-rated novelist, IMO. Pat Barker's 'Regeneration' series is quite extraordinary, too - an awesome literary achievement.

Cheers,
Helen
