About meI am retired and live in West Sussex inthe UK. I have always read a lot and now that I am retired am able to read during the day as well as at bedtime. As well as reading fiction, I am interested in wildlife and birds and visiting various parts of the United Kingdomto pursue these interests. I enjoyed classical music and easy listening from the 50s/60s.
I am married with 2 adult daughters and 2 teenage grandchildren. I think I am going to enjoy this site and look forward to discovering new books by authors I like and also by authors I havent tried before.
About my libraryA mixture of fiction and non fiction and genre books - art, history, wildlife and birds, some crafts

I enjoyed Bag of Bones, Desperation, Rose Madder, Four Past Midnight and IT. I have only read a small amount of his books, but have loads on my bookshelf waiting!
Let me know what one you decide on!

Thanks for the recommendations! I have been wanting to read the book by Daniel Pearl's wife. I had not heard of Kate Adie, but she and her autobiography sound very interesting; I will have to see if I can locate her book as well. I had to go to my stacks of books that I have not yet entered into LibraryThing to return the favor. If you like autobiographies, you might enjoy Boy: Tales of A Childhood by Roald Dahl. He is the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (among other titles) and this small memoir I found delightful. Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden is a classic of war reporting, telling the story of events that occurred in October of 1993 in Mogadishu, Somalia. It was also made into a movie, but the book is much better. On a lighter note, if you haven't already discovered Frances Mayes, you might want to check out Under the Tuscan Sun and Bella Tuscany. Both memoirs are lush accounts of Mayes's love affair with Italy, the home she and her husband restore there, and the life they enjoy there. Under the Tuscan Sun was also made into a movie, but again, the book is better and more true to what actually happened. Finally, a biography that you might find interesting is Alice James: The Life of the Brilliant But Neglected Younger Sister of William and Henry James by Jean Strouse. I am not really a fan of Henry, and William is a little deep for my taste, but I found Alice's story very intriguing. Well, look at how I've gone on! I hope some of my suggestions connnect with you, at least! I had better go get some lunch fixed. Thanks for responding to me as well. Have a great Sunday.

Like you, I have a pretty eclectic taste in reading, both fiction and non-fiction.
