About meDay-to-Day: I am a lawyer, about to (March 2014) move from being a busy private practice to a more laid back Court attorney. Looking forward to the change and more time to do the enjoyable things in life... like read!

Interests: Aside from reading, I have a plethora of interests ranging from socializing to coffee drinking to pilates and yoga to singing (especially harmonizing) to cultural activities of all kinds to shopping to sporting events to ... well, yes. pretty much, name it and I'll be willing to try it and will probably enjoy it.

About books and reading: I enjoy reading more than almost any other activity. I love books that are unique and inspired. I can forgive almost any writing style if the story is good enough. And I find that even the most beautiful writing cannot make up for a flat tale. I am open to suggestions and only wish I could find enough time to follow through on all of them. I have a tendency to choose fantasy/sci-fi when left completely to my own devices because those are the tales that allow me to enter into a completely different life and fully forget the "reality" around me. That being said, some of my favorite books are what I call "drama" -- The Plot Against America, for one.

About my libraryEclectic. I like to have a little of almost everything. I am willing to read pretty much anything (especially if it comes recommended highly enough). In perusing my library, you will find mostly fiction with a strong influence of fantasy and magical realism. You will also find sci-fi, "drama", western, mystery, young adult, children's, cookbooks, memoirs, history, law, latin american literature, russian literature, other-country-literature, etc.

Chèli says it's National Make a Friend Day. Want to be my friend? :)

(At age 8, I walked up to people and said 'want to be friends?' By 10 I waited for them to walk up to me. By 25 I worked with them for over a year before assuming, no words ever being exchanged, we were friends. Now I'm 48 and have gone back to the direct method, lol.)

Have a good day!

I had some trouble getting to view the details/comments on the SantaThing page. The books haven't arrived just yet (maybe they came in today's mail!) but I am very much looking forward to them -- based on the descriptions, they look like exactly the kind of thing I like. Thanks so much! Hope you got some good ones, too.
been reading a lot of good books lately... :)
my library is up to date... i didn't realize a few things:
1. how badly not up to date it was
2. how many books i had gotten rid of over the years (required because of several cross-country moves)
3. how many books i had purchased and not entered into librarything
4. how many books that I got rid of, knowing that I could always buy it again later if I really wanted it.... that I really want ;)
Thank you for your review of Selected Shorts and Other Methods of Time Travel. Now that the book is published, we would LOVE if you would paste your review on our listing. Thank you for your time, interest, and being a fellow reader!
Hi avenders,

I hope you enjoy "Dr. Hackenbush Gets a Job." I had fun writing it.

Notice you've got a copy of Tusa's little novel there in your reading pile. I guess he sent you a message and asked you to review. I got one the same way and have read and reviewed it. Interested in what you think about it.
Glad you got it!

Just pass along a book to the next person who needs one. :)
