About meA little about me? Well, I teach college-level English, which explains why New Years for me happens in August and January, and why I look forward to the summertime, despite the heat and the--shudder!--bugs. In addition to teaching, I do have the obligatory other job, the one that gives me things like health insurance and other benefits.

My third job, and the hardest one to make the time for, is my writing. My research interests for non-fiction writing--fantasy/horror graphic novels, fan culture/slash fiction and film--coincide more with my writing ones, which are fantasy/dark fantasy and mythic fiction and poetry. I'm a published poet who is in pursuit of that elusive first fiction sale. I'm currently working on two novels (an urban dark fantasy and a secondary world fantasy). They are not the first novels that I've started, but they will be the first I finish.

I'm a member of the Science Fiction Poetry Association, Broad Universe, the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts (where I'm the Division Head for the Community and Culture in the Fantastic Division), and the Mythopoeic Society.

I live in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, within walking distance of Lake Erie and am owned by an ancient and terribly possessive dachshund.
