About meMiddle aged wife and mom with 2 kids. Originally from Lawng Island NY but now making home in Maryland. Have a healthy obsession for all things books and beads. Enjoy my livingroom/library and can always find something to read whenever the mood strikes.

About my libraryA mixture of everything but mostly fiction. Love to read Thorne Smith, Cornelia Skinner. Buy alot of my books at thrift stores and have accumulated alot of signed Editions just by taking the time and looking through each book on the shelves which is part of the fun. My library shelves at home are now bowed because I am doubling up. Have a hard time getting rid of books but learning to just keep the authors I really love and I am very proud of my collection. Not all of my books are in pristine form. They all have been well read and loved with alot of "character" or so I like to think. Hardly ever read anything "current"...just prefer the stlye of writing from 30's & 40's. Love to share books and authors with my friends...as long as they give them back to me...my friends know better!

For one human being to love another:
that is perhaps the most difficult of our tasks;
the ultimate, the last test and proof,
the work for which all other work is but preparation.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupery~
(June 29, 1900—July 31, 1944)
French writer and aviator. Most famous for his novella 'The Little Prince'
It is probably weird that I read the biography of Strachey before I had read any of his books. I did later read his Queen Victoria and his Eminent Victorians, both of which I have cooments on in my library. I presume you have read those books of his before you read his biography--which is the logical thing to do, it would seem.

I see I am on your "Members with" list, which is good to see. All the books I have listed are books I have read. I see you recently added Stella Dallas. I remember as a boy hearing of (and sometimes listening to!)the soap opera by that name. Have you read it?

Any old-time fiction you think I should read?
