About my libraryMy library is predominantly non-fiction, generally in the social/political sciences, gender/trans/feminist studies, U.S. history (esp. of progressive movements), and cooking. For fiction, I enjoy Tom Robbins, Douglas Addams, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

A bit about my catalog: I've only entered books I currently own, not those I've had but lost or borrowed from a friend or the library. I have a rather large collection of magazines; they are tagged "MAGAZINE" and the comment field includes key articles in that issue. *I'm happy to photocopy an article for you, if you are really interested in it. Just send me an email.* (AS OF 3 JAN 07, every book and magazine I own is listed!! that is, except for my cooking magazines; damn it, I really thought I was done :~)

I only give stars for books I think are good, so a one- or two-star rating is not really a bad review. I've used multiple tags for most of my collection -- to me, subjects are too, well, subjective. Don't we all have a unique word-association thought pattern? How much do labels matter? To wit, is Orwell's 1984 really a work of fiction, or is the blueprint for the Bush Administration's policies? No stars and no comment means that I haven't read it yet (or that I haven't finished going through my list). No stars with comments -- well, the comments will explain, but it's pretty safe to assume that I'm not recommending it.

Hey tiggergrrl - my RTS tag is short for 'Reclaim the Streets' - I've been using the tag for books that either cover RTS or were an inspiration for RTS in London.

tiggergrrl, thank you for your kind note about Twain's "The War Prayer". I'd forgotten about my review, so went back and took a look. The URL I'd provided had become a dead link in the meantime; thank goodness you drew it to my attention! I've added a new link to a page (http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/warPrayer.html) that includes something else I hadn't seen: an excerpt from Twain's The Mysterious Stranger, also scathingly critical of war and the "patriots" that defend it.

Thanks for the suggestion/explanation grunin. I've revised my catalog so that the tags feature is the standard useage. Basically, I began putting my reviews in the tag line because that was the only field that showed up in the non-manual book entry screen. But I see your point, and it makes sense from my own perspective too, since I often refer friends to my book collection for their own research.

Hello there -- feminist_prof here.

I haven't read "Fat is a Feminist Issue," so I can't directly relate it to that ... perhaps once I read it, it will be more clear to me.
