About meI read, I garden, I build stained glass and cut hair. I love to travel, ride horses, enjoy fine dinning and renovating my 100 year old house.

I could go on...

About my librarystill adding books to LT, it seems to be such a slow process, half the time I forget the name or author by the time I make it back to the comp. can we say oldtimers boyz and girls? I love buying books, finding space is a bigger challenge. Getting hooked up with Abebooks really lets me justify more book buying.

Hello there friend.

I'm so glad you are feeling better.
Thanks for asking about me. I'm exhausted. I worked a 12-hour day yesterday. I plan to head to the library and hide out today. It is raining and damp...a great day to read.
How are you feeling today?

I'm thinking of you.

Hugs
Linda
Just dropping by to say hi and let you know I'm thinking of you!
Hi.

It is good to hear from you. I hope each day brings healing.

Hugs
Just a quick note to say I'm thinking of you today. I hope the surgery went well.

BIG Hugs
Linda
Thanks for connecting with me. You are very much on my mind. I hope all goes well for you on Friday.
Take care,
Linda
Hello Brenda
I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers this week. How are you holding up?

I send the very best wishes for a smooth surgery on Friday. I know you will be out of it for a few days, but can you please let me know how you are doing as soon as you feel able to do so?

Hugs
Linda
opps...I forgot to answer your question. I'm doing better....medications are helping.
Please tell me about your impending surgery!
HI.
I'm simply stopping by to see how you are feeling.

Hugs to you,
Linda
Hi,
I loved Duma Key, incidentally. I clicked on your name from Joe Hill's page. I am actually reading his book "Heart-Shaped Box" right now and enjoying it! Mary Beth
Thx! I'm going to have to take another look to tell you my favs -- shucks ;-> Your door is fantastic! Sorry you were disappointed though -- I do some fiber art and understand. The finished product isn't always what we envision... But boy howdy can you craft! and that library sign -- merveilleux ! :)
Do you have pics of your work somewhere? I love stained glass (but found out, to my dismay, that I hate making it -- bummer!!!)

Susan
Hello to you.

I hope you are well. It is a rainy, cozy evening and I'm reading while listening to the drops gently hit the windows.

How are you feeling these days?
Dear Beeg,
What can I say? King's ability to develop characters and situations was utilised to such good effect in Duma Key, that I was rather disappointed with the supernatural exposition at the end, as the rest of the story had been so powerful. However, that's just my opinion.

Regards,
Unorna

P.S Lisey's Story was good, too!
Dear Beeg What did you think of Duma Key?????????????
Hi Brenda
I'm glad you are feeling better.

I hope this continues.

I send bright sunny wishes and hugs
Linda
Beeg
I forgot to ask you how you are feeling. How are you?
Thanks for the drive-by. :-) I'm so glad you liked Ghostwalk. I thoroughly enjoyed it...
Hey, I took your advice and bought Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams. I finished the first book but wasn't really that into it I'm afraid but I'm really enjoying the second book. I keep staying up too late just so I can read a bit each day.
Glad you liked it! I haven't listened to the audiobook yet, but I hear it's pretty good since they have real actors doing the different interviews. One of these days, I need to get my hands on it. 8^}
So I finished Zombie yesterday evening. Wow. Just, wow. I can't imagine how she got into the head of a psychopath so well. If it had been me, I'd be in therapy now... 8^}

Thanks for the recommendation!
Happy New Year to you and hope it's a good one :)
Hmmmm. Maybe we were talking about the movie. Well, we'll compare notes afterward, I suppose!
Hey beeg -

Thought I'd let you know I'm about 1/3 of the way through Ring. So far, I'm really enjoying it. Thanks for the recommendation!
Hiya - Yeah I'm still around just not very often at the moment, too much to do, too little time to do it in or words to that effect. Thanks for noticing though :) Hope things are going ok with you.
Hey beeg,

While I was putting up my review for Oval Office Occult, I saw that you had recently added it to your library. I'm curious to see what you think. I myself wasn't overly impressed, but since I generally agree with your take of books I wanted to compare. I wonder if I was simply expecting too much or had a bad night when I read it. Let me know.

Kami
Wow, I love the pumpkin pic!
you are more than welcome.
beeg! I love your review of The Fire. You made me laugh.

We also seemed to feel similar about it, as did most of the 44 other reviewers out there at the time I write this.

I'm glad everything seems to be ok at home! Evacuation does indeed sound like a real problem. I noticed an awful lot of RVs and campers on the road as we were leaving Louisiana, and I heard I-49 was a mess. margd and I were discussing a new book called Traffic that I've got on reserve at the library. I'll have to see what the author says about this sort of thing...

We're back in Maryland now just in time to get dumped on by Hanna this weekend. We just can't win!
I did indeed get a copy of The Last Oracle from the public library, and enjoyed it very much! It was a nice wrapup to some of the dangling ends of the previous book. Have yu read it yet?

And I even snagged an Early Reviewer copy of the latest Steve Berry, The Charlemagne Pursuit, which was very Rollins-esque.
Did you really make it through Foucault's Pendulum? I remember trying to read it and only understanding one out of three or four sentences. I kept checking to make sure my copy was in English, or that I hadn't picked up James Joyce by mistake.
beeg, you were right on the money -- you guessed the quotation. So the ball's in your court, now.
You got it. Either you or thebentley can do the next one.
Well I finished it and reviewed it and read The Magic Cottage by James Herbert as well, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Now reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards but I can't say it's my kind of book. Have to see how it pans out.
The Thirteenth Tale is turning out to be a great read. You were right. I'm at page 330 so not much left but I'm hooked.
You made me laugh with the "dust" comment, if that's all the bad habits you have then you're not doing too badly
Do you come back for visits?

Yep. Heading back home for my niece's wedding this summer. We try to get back to visit family once a year or so. That and to get some real Cajun food...8^}
75 huh... I doubt I'll make 25 the rate I'm going LOL, as for things being back to normal, well as normal as they can be I suppose as I've given up smoking and am climbing the walls... um figuritively speaking. Best of luck on the challenge though.
Hey, beeg - I didn't realize you're from Louisiana...I'm from Pineville, just across the Red River from Alexandria, and the wife's from Bastrop up near Monroe. I went to college at what is now University of Louisiana at Monroe. Small world!

Jim (aka drneutron)
Hiya just checking in to see how things are going with you. Hope all's well.
I'll keep a watch for it then, thanks!
Hiya.

Can't say I've read anything called Wicked that I can remember. What is it?

Imp
Hey thanks for the invitation! I love your taste in books!

Kami
Hi beeg, Thanks for the invite. I see that we have very similar tastes in books and author's.
Talk to you soon

Carrie
Hiya

I just noticed that you put The Entity in your library, that brought back a few memories. I think I read it when it first came out "way back when" and it really creeped me out. Think I might have to have a look around for another copy myself.
Hello Beeg,
I have a little room about 10' by 12' that serves as my library. I have a recliner in the middle and a small table loaded with books. There are six bookshelves around the walls a window and the door. I love to sit in there and read early in the morning or any time. Someone picked me for an interesting library and I went through my catalog. I realized I have a good number of books that I am interested in that I haven't read. That has slowed down my book buying a bit, only a bit. Good to hear that you are doing well. Non illigitimi carbrondum, (Don't let the bastards get you down). Best regards.
wildbill (Bill Rucker)
Beeg,
I have been doing some used book shopping myself lately. Next door to my office is a used book store with about 35,000 books. I have shopped there for years and the owner usually gives me a discount. I had some cash in my pocket and bought six books recently. I browse and find books I like, it's not like ABE where I can order a book I want. It still feels good to get a like new hardback for $8.00. I hope things are well in your corner of the world. Drop me a note and let me know the news and the gossip.
wildbill (Bill Rucker)
Hey beeg,

Thanks for the invite.
Hey Beeg thanks for the linkage. Wow I hadn't heard anything about this movie and I pride myself on being up to date on me 'orror. Gotta say though it looks pretty good. It's only a trailer but the atmosphere is suitably creepy and they don't seem to shy away from the nastiness.
It's strange but true that "small world" applies especially on the internet.
Beeg

Thanks for the invite, much appreciated.
Beeg,
At ABE on the search results page at the top there is a drop down menu labeled"features" you can drop it down and select hardcovers and the only books that are shown will be hardbacks. I prefer them also and buying used they are not much more expensive than the paperbacks.
When I am looking at a book to buy and I have a question about whether I already own it I drop a new tab on my browser and go to my catalog. Then I can look up and see if I have the book. It is hard to keep track and more than one time I have bought a book I already owned.
I noticed in your catalog a couple of H. P. Lovecraft volumes. I have one volume of his stories I bought that is published by Library of America. It has 800 pages of his stories and a short biography in the back. You might want to give it a look. Have fun shopping and reading.
wildbill
Hey beeg:

I just saw your comment and question about Perfume. I posted a comment on my challenge page but will put it here too:

Yes, although I never "liked" Grenouille (which translates as frog, by the way). I had sympathy for him as a child, but not when he started manipulating people and events. I loved the language, the time it evoked, and the story itself. Strange end.

Karen
I have been shopping at ABE for a number of years. The book prices are good but I have to be careful about the shipping charges. Because each book will come from a separate store there are separate shipping charges for each book. I try, if possible, to get a number of books from one store. Other than that I have had great luck getting good quality books for discount prices.
Next door to my office is a used book store and they do a majority of their business through ABE. The owner told me that he would go out of business without the internet sales. So its a good deal for the buyer and the seller.
It does make it more difficult not to buy. I try to keep to a budget and always look at the unread books on my shelves to keep myself in line. Money spent on books is never wasted. I am glad to hear you found some books you wanted. Some folks look down on buying used books but the words are the same. Let me know how your purchases turn out.
Thanks for the friendship!

Here’s wishing you a fantastic day filled with fabulous fates, fanciful festivities, and frolicking phantom footstools.

Happytimes,
Jeremy :)

PS--if you end up checking out my novel or any of my other work, I'd love to hear what you think.
