About my libraryMost books are at home, some are at work. Not quite everything, but the majority. I try to catalog new books as they come in, and occasionally do checks for missing stuff... so this is pretty accurate, but not 100%.

SOLD collection are books owned in the past and I still have images of them, which LT needed, so they are included so the cover images can be given to LT.

Wishlist maintained on Book Mooch.

Thank you. I agree. This is Sir Walter Scott's study. I have several postcards of it.

That is an absolutely beautiful library...
My idea of heaven I think >.
Let me recommend a recent work which includes an overview of goings-on in Concord, Massachusetts in the early nineteenth century; 'AMERICAN BLOOMSBURY' by Susan Cheever. Very interesting.
I wouldn't do anything different other than what I mentioned. The boards are closer to 11 inches wide than they are to 12 inches, but then a "2 by 4" isn't really 2 inches by 4 inches, or so I've been told. The shelves show no signs of bending, even the oversized shelves. I had another seven shelves built on the other wall, and then a top shelf above the closet. This is how my library looked a few years ago. I have a row of books on the library table now, a complete set of the OED in the closet, and a dictionary stand. The bottom shelf of the stand is completely full now. I've also reorganized my shelves.

I've been following your comments about acquiring bookcases for your library. I also read about the lack of carpenters in your area because of the oil industry. I still think you're better off having wall-to-wall bookcases built. Have you seen my Picture Trail album on how my library was built?

Hope you find a carpenter.

Jerry
Thanks. Also a very historical place: here final agreement on the partition between India and pakistan was reached in 1947!
Thank you!

This is more than cute and precious. This is every book-loving mom's dream. That is, as long as the little one is supervised.
I appreciate your recent efforts at posting new items in the Other People's Library group. I'm not interested in all of those people, but I do like peeking in libraries. Thanks.
Thanks for the invitation, I'll join
Thanks for the invitation to join the Lakeside Classics group. This is the time of year that I actually start thinking of quitting groups, so I'll reluctantly decline.

I did want you to know that I've looked at your blog. Most impressive!

Happy Holidays from a fellow bibliophile,
Maki
Thanks for the info! I'll check out the link.
What a wonderful idea, thank you for inviting me...where do you live? Do you have meetings?
I joined your Montana group, but I sometimes go weeks without logging on so I won't be a very active member. Just thought I'd let you know. :-)
I agree. I lived in Montana for 36 years before coming to Seattle. (Both of them claim Richard Hugo.)I also like a lot Indian fiction, particularly James Welch and Louise Erdrich.

Breaking Clean by Judy Blunt is making the rounds of my library book group and they all love it, though most can't identify with it. I can somewhat, though she was from Eastern Montana, where people are even more isolated. She's about my age.

I wanted to put together a Montana bookbox for bookcrossing, but there wasn't sufficient interest.
Hi! The thing I have been interested in collecting lately is older books about Opera. Thanks for responding, maybe I'll be able to come out. I've never actually gotten to go to the Belle Isle Brewery, but I grew up over on the northwest side of OKC. :)
Hi!

I see that you are from Oklahoma! Can you tell me more about the Bibliophiles of Oklahoma?
Yay for Modern Library. My father has a vast number of their books, and I am assuming I will at some point (may it be long delayed) I will inherit them...
Thank you for accepting my friends invitation. I hope my profile gave you some new insights into Volney, Jefferson and Franco-American history. I will be glad to answer any questions you might have regarding Volney, his views, or book purchases. All Zee Best, TCW

BTW--Volney met BF in the salon of Madame Helvetius pre-Revolution. According to Gaulmier, BF recommended to the young Volney that he should travel overseas to broaden his horizons. Volney went to Syria and Egypt for three years, wrote a book that made him famous, and then got elected to the first National Assembly. BF then introduced Volney to his replacement, Thomas Jefferson.
forgive my halfheimerl's disease. no. they are not buckram, which is, of course, a cloth. they are leather. i have applied mink oil and it is good. there is a process that ensures it will work, and it is painstaking and takes a few days, but it is well worth it.
Benjamin-
Are we going to have a November meeting? I assume we won't be meeting on Thanksgiving. :)
Zach
Hi, just wanted you to know I visited your library, since I got your message in postcrossing. Thanks for the nice note!

Lynn
I won't be able to make the Aug 28 bibliophile meeting, but I am going to shoot for the next one...
I have a quick question... where did the image, for the now defunct "book history" group come from? It's the color image of a court jester reading a book. Thanks!
I am about 4 hours away. Of course that is not to far at all for books. Thanks for the invite, I will certainly look into coming. I am going to see when it is and what I have going on that day. I would LOVE to come. Penny.
I see you're looking in on Samuel Johnson's catalog. By coincidence I just added William Bailey's The Advancement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce, which is already listed with Thomas Jefferson and which you'll come across in Ben Franklin's list as well. This is fun, but it's going to be a lot of work. My GOOGLE already has callouses, and I've just gotten through the A's.
Thanks for your offer of help! We're ready to go on the cataloging. Come on over to the group and check the first two posts in the "Volunteer for Your Section" thread to choose the books you want to enter.
Thanks for the offer of help on the Benjamin Franklin LT catalog. I want to check in with the "I See Dead People('s Books)" group to see how the manage multiple people working on one catalog. I'll contact you again after I do that, because I certainly will need the assistance! Thanks
Thanks for the reference to the Adam Smith catalogue. Unfortunately, that catalogue isn't really The One. Bonar did two: that was the earlier one. And even the later one omitted many books unknown to belong to Smith at the time. H. Mizuta's catalogue is the best at the moment.
