Good Morning, Bermandog of Potomac MD - Strange name. I've been wondering why people are reluctant to give their own names on this LT. Are they reading "subversive materials"? Hmm ... Looks like we share some of the same subversive tastes in books. I wrote a book about polio a couple years ago. And I know Doug Stanton and Chuck Pfarrer, who both live in Traverse City. My brothers and I went o HS w/ Doug's folks. Doug was born in the old hospital here, which is now the Public Library. I've already pre-ordered Doug's new book, Horse Soldiers, which is due out from Scribners in just a few days. I heard him read from the manuscript a couple years ago, and it will be another international bestseller; that's my prediction. By the way, I lived in Odenton MD for over 20 years. Hope to hear from ya, "Dog". Maybe we can swap some book chat. Be well, TimBazzett, RatholeBooks.com
Wow - sorry for the very late response. I had not signed in for a while. I read Kurzweil's book a while ago. It was an interesting book - and worth the read. However, there were a couple of things that bugged me. First, I felt that he repeated a lot of the ideas multiple times. Second, a lot of times, I got the feeling that the word choices he was making were to impress me - kind of like - "look how smart I am". If there was a way to rate a book on content, or ideas only, I would have given this high marks. It's worth a peek - I just couldn't get past some of the other issues. If you read it, I'd love to hear back.
