"Books are plainly devoured"... I want to ascribe this to author Cory Docotorow, who, for a time, was moderator and member of a user group called MAGIC (Macintosh Awareness Group in Canada), that ran a BBS out of Toronto Canada. It was part of his profile and the first time I read it I was shocked to stillness with how much it resonated with me.

Books, more than any other medium, have consistently been my nourishment, my inspiration and my most loyal and constant companion. I have formed long-lasting friendships over the love of the same books or authors. I have bridged cultural and language differences with total strangers over the appreciation of the same author or their book. I have thrilled at the discovery of a new (to me, anyway) writer or genre. I have visited and revisited with books I've read many times, revelling in their familiarity as I would in the shared reminiscences with an old and dear friend.

I gladly donate the time and energy to catalogue my own "library" and and am grateful to members who are doing the same.
