About meI am a medical engineer for a major medical device company.
I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, with minors in Japanese and Mathematics. That probably explains most of my books.
I am now working on a Master's degree in philosophy, so that probably explains the remainder of my books.
About my libraryI originally intended only to include books I actually have on my shelves, but the necessity of leaving a caustic review of a terrible book (cf. Lowbrow History) opened the door for me to keep track of the books I've read that I no longer own. The number of books I actually own is the total minus the number tagged read.
Books tagged read are books I no longer have in my possession. Other tags will then explain that books ultimate fate.
Books tagged sold are just that.
Books I borrowed and returned will have some identification of the source, just in case I want them again.
I have found certain book reviewers a valuable source of good books, so I have grouped books by the website that encouraged me to read them. In most cases I have included a link to the pertinent review in the reviews page for the work.
Orrin Judd's Brothers Judd book reviews and blog are tagged: Brothers Judd
John Walker's Fourmilab, co-creator of Autodesk, Inc., tagged: fourmilab
John Reilly's The Long View millenial scholar and metaphysical gadfly, tagged: The Long View
Jerry Pournelle's Chaos Manor, a day book and home of the world's best-informed email correspondents, tagged: Chaos Manor
Now that LibraryThing Local is up, the location tags on my books will make more sense.
Bookmans, used book store extrordanaire, tagged: Bookmans
Cline Library, my alma mater's library, tagged: Cline Library
Flagstaff Public Library, the city/county public library, tagged: Flagstaff Public Library
I added most of the books in my physical library. I will be adding books I can remember reading as I go.
