About meTechnical writer. Road tripper. Loves cheese and bacon but not so much with the sweets.

About my libraryOnce upon a time, I made a goal to read all the classical books in the world. That will never happen, but it's fun trying.

Then it was as if I suddenly saw the secret beauty of their hearts,
the depths where neither sin nor desire can reach,
the person that each one is in God's eyes.
If only they could see themselves as they really are.
If only we could see each other that way,
there would be no reason for war, for hatred, for cruelty ...
I suppose the big problem would be that
we would fall down and worship each other.

- Thomas Merton

God regards with merciful eyes not what you are nor what you have been but what you wish you to be.

I've only read a couple of novels twice, and when I do I have a redoubled appreciation for their imagery -- the good ones, that is. 'Bastard Out of Carolina' is one I'd read again -- the aunts' conversations were hilarious -- and when I finished it I wanted to buy Allison's other novel, 'Cavedweller.'
Glad you came across 'Bastard Out of Carolina' -- it's a great book. Your photo looks more like Arizona than Illinois.
